Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

  ∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

  ∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

  ∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

  ∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts

   1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.


   2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.


   3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.


   4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.


   5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.


   6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

   7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

[There's Ray, amicable and warm as always, especially with Felicity.]

We've got a few ideas being tossed around but nothing concrete yet. I think we might be in a pocket dimension of some kind.

[There are her nerd people! Well, one of them. Now they can get down to figuring some things out.]

And hi Ray, what's the last thing you remember? Because Thea is from like, three years ago.

The wedding. Rather, I suppose we could call it the annual get together.

You alright? It's pretty dangerous out there and I'm speaking more to the fact that there are dinosaurs and pretty much something from every era of human history. Brave new world, so to speak.

[He pauses, before moving on to explain.]

Barry told me that he tried running home, and was boomeranged back into the city. We can't actually leave.

That's actually not a bad idea, having an annual get together.

[She pauses, looking around. Right, not exactly the casual walk down the street, but she's managed to avoid murderers and raptors.]

Which means someone is trying to keep us here.

[That doesn't sound ominous at all, does it?]

That's definitely a possibility. Thing is, this already happened. I told you about over the summer, remember?

[You know while he was slaving over an app that didn't even stand up to the competition when you really think about it.]

There's a coffee shop in 'French section' [Or, you know, France. She found a spot with good coffee good wifi and in close proximity to a computer store. She's been working on an alga rhythm since to try and predict where their people might be showing up at or if they're here at all.]

This is what that looked like? Ok, one, it's a lot cooler then you described and two, do you think this could be Rip's fault?

[Leave it to Felicity to try to outdo temporal entropy.]

I haven't been there yet, but I did make a trip to the 31st century. Apparently, in another reality, Wally West is a red head.

[Rip's fault? Pretty sure he wouldn't intentional do this even if he got 'salty' over what happened with the time Bureau.]

I'm inclined to doubt that. Sure, maybe he was a little evil last year, last I saw of him he was desperate, but not this desperate.

Oooh! I didn't think about the future. I wonder if I could do DNA tracking.

[There's a pause before her next words sound defeated.]

That would only work on known arrivals. If it were - Oh, right, Hi!

[She may have completely forgotten you were talking to her when you mentioned the 31st century.]

Right, Rip, red hair. Wally would look horrible with red hair, and could he have done it by accident?

I think that Bart implied that it was natural. Anyway that's basically the situation.

[ Might wanna try working on that Felicity. To be totally fair you did kinda jump from point A to point D there.]

That really wasn't what I meant.

It's possible! Maybe. But I don't think that's how it works. A control-Z for chronomatic course correction? Doubtful.

It could be a side effect of what we initially did.

[A smart best friend would have been able to follow.]

And yet we just fought evil alternate Earth Nazi Oliver and Kara. I'm pretty sure there's totally a chance that there's a control-Z for chronomatic course correction.

And it's possible, but you said Rip created the Time Burau and fixed all of this. So this would most likely be a similar but potentially unrelated event.

That was something, wasn't it?

It's entirely possible. Maybe someone's sleeping on the job at the time Bureau.

Or it could be a direct result of what happened. Who knows, maybe the normal timeline is going on uninterrupted?

You mean like an alternate timeline created by what happened?

[She hadn't thought of that actually. And what are the real odds that it would be something like that?]

That could be it. We're not going to be able to do anything more than wild speculation until we know more.

So, Paris? I could use a coffee.

Maybe an espresso. [Or two. Felicity stop him.]

Ray, I know what you're like on caffeine.

[You are getting a green tea latte and you're going to like it.]

I kinda need it. Had bit of an adventure earlier.

There's a chance I'm a meta now.

[There's silence on her end for a long time. Ray's a meta? How is that even possible? Of all the weird things she's dealt with here, this is the one that worries her. What if this place is altering them fundamentally?]

I was shrinking independently of the suit, took a while to figure out how to get myself back to normal.

[He better be. She wants to make sure he's not suddenly tiny and about to get squished.]

Figured it would be better to first help whoever I could, then settle down and try to fix my suit where its safe.

[He's getting closer, people speaking french in the background.]

Apparently, Gideon hacked into the Palmer Tech bank account and purchased a few apartment buildings for us. It also seems that Palmer tech is from about three years ago, based on what she told me.

It and Thea both. Wait, does that mean I'm still the president?

[That was not something she was expecting.]

[This seems like the place. He really needs to get Felicity's number so he can ping her phone.

Besides, that's just the foundation of their relationship.

He looks at his phone, about to answer before smiling broadly when he sees her and walks over.]

Hey. Depends. It's 2014, I haven't even seen the building yet, so it may still be the old building we had before buying out Queen Consolidated. [ He knows, tender spot there, but still. ] And the may of that following year is when I kinda... blew myself up.

[The sound of Ray's voice over her shoulder, while surprising, holds a kind of comfort that no one else's voice can. It's like a warm comforter or a comfort food.

She doesn't even ask or say hello before her arms are around him in a tight embrace.]

[Oh hi Felicity. He hugs her back warmly and smiles at her once they break it off.]

On the plus side, we can actually have a conversation without being shot at.
