Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

  ∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

  ∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

  ∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

  ∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts

   1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.


   2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.


   3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.


   4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.


   5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.


   6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

   7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

   8. Wild Card. Go nuts.

Here's the thing about that. If time were unraveling it would make sense for all of you to be here and from the right time, but why me and the others?

It makes just as much sense as any one of us being from another time. The fourth dimension, which governs time? It's like a ribbon with one end being your birth and one end being your death and every other moment inbetween.

Which means that's the dimension which is under flux right now and it's distorting the space around us.

As for why you're here? Any one we know, it makes sense, since you all have connections to someone aboard the wave rider.

Not sure about Bart or the other kid.

Which is where the questions lie, because there's also Kristen who's from Gotham and as far as I know none of us have been there either.

Also, are you actually explaining a temporal theory to me or have you guys established this?

More like voicing my thoughts to segue into what Thea told me, which was that she was stabbed by Ra's, remembers being stabbed, but somehow arrived fully healed. Or somehow chronologically reversed the stab wound while still having memory of it.

[Ray looks apologetic about explaining it to her, but there is a reason he needs the coffee and it's catching up to him.

His brows knit as he ponders this thought further and glances outside. Huh.]

There's a pretty good chance everything here is on it's own timeline and we could find ourselves being thrown further or backwards on our timelines independent of anything else.

So, a pocket dimension outside of all our timelines.

[She knows she's finishing his thought for him. It's something they've always been able to do with one another. She does it with Curtis and Cisco too. Basically the curse of being a genius in a room full of them.]

So basically this could be 'The end of Time' but, you know, real. Which means we'd have to find the original anomaly. Which, so far, are none of us, unless someone altered a fixed point in time. What time is it?

The Dr Who episode? Funny, even while here and spending all my time on a time ship I really didn't think we'd end up in a scenario out of a show I actually watch.

[He glances at his palmer tech watch which he put the sim chip in.]

8:30, I have. But that might be Waverider time.

Didn't you have that whole George Lucas thing?

[She feels like she remembers him telling her about something like that.]

It doesn't have to be my time, we just need to see if it resets. Of course, even if it doesn't, that doesn't mean the theory isn't still valid.

That was more of a Back to the Future scenario. He quit trying to get a film degree which erased both mine and Nate's passions for History and Science respectively. I became a heart surgeon over a matter of three hours.

[He looks to his watch, counting in his mind. Right, he gets what she's saying. And now it's just a waiting game.

58, 59, 60, 61...]

It hasn't changed. Pretty sure this is functioning.

[Switching the setting so the milliseconds and seconds are shown. No change.]

[She's been watching her laptop as well. Technically they'd need more clocks, but two will have to do.]

Mine's not moving either. Score one for the stopped time pocket dimension theory.

One variable anyway. [He had a bad feeling in his gut. Maybe now was a good time to go try and get the waverider working?]

It occurs to me that we might want to employ the buddy system. Think you can get Sara on board with that for me?

I'll come back if you need help getting somewhere safer. [There might be a little guilt in his eyes, but also conviction. He's gotta at least try.]

[She raises a brow, knowing he's probably going to do something wholely not approved of.]

Ray, what are you planning to do?

Gotta try to break into the Waverider. [He really should have been doing this all day.]

[She's not letting him debate that. She's going with.]

Oh good, the buddy system is getting off to a great start.

Pretty sure I managed to fix the functionality of my suit, it was a little touchy when I first got here.

[She raises a brow. Pretty sure? Then again, that was Ray. Never concrete, always one foot in the potentiality of blowing himself up. It's what made them such good friends.]

[Even at the question she's packing her things to go.]

Considering all I had to work with was a set of screw drivers? Yeah. It worked. It'll have to do until I get it somewhere I can do some maintenance.

[What, him? Blow up? Nah.

No really he's figured out how not to protect against that for the most part.

If there's anything he can pick up for her, he does and hands it to her.]

[She accepts it and starts slinging things over her shoulder.]

If you get stuck small I'm making fun of you for at least a month.

[That's a long time to make fun of him for that.]

[She can't help the smirk that crosses her face. She resist's the urge to tell him that her last name is actually Queen now. It's still a bit weird, honestly.]

I'm pretty sure I can win. What have you got on me, after all?

I'll think of something. Going to have to figure out how to outpace you on your arsenal.

[He hasn't told her of Gertrude, and will not. He knows what power that could give her.]

[He should. It's not like she can point to every dinosaur and ask him if it's his girlfriend. Oh wait, she can.]

Good luck with that. Now, are we breaking into the Waverider or not?

Yeah, lets do it.

[He leads the way over there, and once there, he ducks aside to get into his suit and rejoins his companion.]

Alright. Here goes nothing.

[He shrinks down and activates his thrusters before heading towards the ship to get inside.]

[She sits down nearby, trying to see if she can get any readings off the Waverider.]

I can't get anything Ray.
