Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.

2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.

3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.

4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.

5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.

6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

"This place is so Bizarro-World, it's not funny. The ship wants me to have a guardian, and probably school, too."

"The ship really can't control that, but tell you what. Stick around the Legends and team Arrow the Flash and you'll get support when you need it." Ray replies with utmost confidence in his words.

"It's not quite that easy. Barry wasn't exactly taking the news well, last I saw."

What was he supposed to say? Congrats, it's a boy and a girl, but the Dominators killed them?

"Might want to give him a little time. He just got married." Ray retorts to that, then reaches out to pat Bart on the shoulder.

"They'll come around."

"I guess. It's not like I got to spend time with him back home." Between the way history fell out and everything. "I resented him for coming back when Max didn't, and he didn't know how to deal with having a grandkid without kids in between."

Really Bart, so much, so much to process here.

"So... You aren't hungry by any chance, are you?" He's just gonna feed this kid now. Probably a good diversion.

Bart shot him a look at that.

"Dude, I'm a speedster. I'm always hungry."

Fair point. Ray conceded this point to Bart with a head tilt and nod, his eyebrows high.

"Guess we'll have to find some places that have 'all you can eat' on the menu." He pauses.

"And hope we don't get banned with two speedsters to feed." Don't worry Bart, he's got you covered. Hes a billionaire again.

"If I'm not actually using my speed, I can get by on less," Bart said. "I went a year without using it, and all I got were a few comments about the unfairness of a high metabolism when I could eat third helpings and not gain weight."

He shrugs a little. He is what he is. "But I wouldn't want to go that long again without running."

"We wouldn't ask you to do that if we didn't need to." Could there be a food shortage here? Possibly but likely not. They had resources and they would exploit them if needed.

"C'mon. Let's see if we can find something a little closer to the 21st century." Unless there was a 31st century restaurant they could go to, but he doubted that.

"Good idea. Synthesized foods never taste quite right," Bart said, grinning impishly.

"The Waverider gets pretty close." Ray counters. He usually doesn't have an issue with it, but yes he can see someone preferring real food to the computer made stuff. Part of him supposes, had he stayed in the seat of CEO he easily could have build the foundation for building a better replicator knowing what he knows now.

He leads on towards the exit of the museum.

"Pretty sure I'm not getting inside the home of the nifty AI with the attitude any time soon," Bart pointed out. "I guess it's more that it's easier to compare when you remember everything."

And there's a tone to that which says it isn't always a gift.

Given that he has just been given a new gift of a meta power, he's pretty sure it might become a curse yet.

"Gideon usually isn't...well... She's usually on our side. One of the team. Not sure what about this that's changed."

Bart shrugged a bit at that, because, well, he wasn't entirely sure there was an 'our' side that included him. Not if Heatwave was on it, too. So instead he just focused on navigating back out of the time-displaced stretch of Central City and back to the main timeline LA.

"Your side, you mean. I'm a Titan, not a Legend." He glances out in the direction of the T-shaped building, thinking again how strange things could be. "Not that I'm complaining. I haven't seen anyone else from my team here."

That makes him glance back again, considering a few points. The whole Heatwave thing was going to be rough and they'd have to play it diplomatic. Trust was difficult to build, more so when situations like these arose.

A huge part of him wanted to defend Mick and explain that given the conditions of the alternate universe, he's more than likely not the same man he knew.

He had a feeling whatever he said would fall on deaf ears. His brows were knit for a time as they walked and listened to what he said.

"I guess I'll just ask that you meet our captain. As for the Titans, well, I can't make any judgements on that since you're the only one here. It may be best to rely on each other rather than splintering into separate groups."

"Weird to think of a team with an actual captain," Bart said, shaking his head a little. "I mean, Arsenal was the leader when I first started hanging out with the team, but with Red Robin mostly staying in Gotham, it either falls on Wonder Girl or we just adapt. The Titans never really were a rules-and-regulations kind of team. We're the Teen Titans, after all."

A pause, and he points towards a familiar-looking sign. "How does Golden Corral seem to you?"

"Time Ship." Ray reminds as he walks on, remarking this in terms of why it's a captain rather than simply a leader. Looking up at the sign he snorts softly as as he thinks to himself: it begins.

"Good of place as any." All he has to do is stay away from anything that looks like it was deep fried and he'll survive.

He snorts softly at his thought and nodded to Bart. "Arsenal, huh? Roy Harper?"

"Pretty sure the Time Ship could captain herself if she so desired," Bart responds, amused. Was it a 21st century thing to discount the AI, or just the lack of opportunity to be shown how independent even initially programmed people could be. It didn't really matter to him.

He shrugs a little. "Yeah, that's right. He's one of the first generation of Titans, so when Nightwing didn't want the job, he stepped up. There are a lot more of us where and when I'm from, although not as many as there are in the Legion. That's probably because they've got so many planets to pull membership from, though."

"She certainly can, however Sara is our captain and Gideon usually defers to her. Likewise when Rip was captain she did the same courtesy to him." He explains as he entered the restaurant. He goes up to pay at the front for the two of them.

"Gideon's not exactly cooperating now, which is why we're wondering what changed." Why the lockdown, why the sass?

So much information to process on the Titans, but he just gives a nod to that and thinks back to when he last met Roy. Was that what he was doing now? Or was he just laying low?

"Could be a self-diagnostic safeguard," Bart suggested as they got in and he started to load up a tray.

His choices were probably interesting to watch, given the high amount of protein and carbs for muscle health and easy energy, but there were also plenty of greens to fill in essential vitamins and minerals. He knew his nutritional needs, having had them drilled into him by Dr. Clairborne and others in his life. Bart might pretend to eat like just another teenager, and before he even finished his first trip he caught the amused glances of those who assumed he was either a teenager who pigged out or his eyes were bigger than his stomach.

"I guess I probably should be trying to figure out the rules here, and it seems to be more your world than mine."

Ray picked himself out a steak and a salad from the salad bar, him also very nutritional conscious. He avoids the simple carbs like the plague however and keeps his meal protein heavy. However, once he sees the red potatoes he's gotta have a little.

Like the onlookers, he is also has a bemused expression on his face. Speedsters. He wondered how often Barry ate at a place like this? What were his grocery bills like?

"It could be diagnostic, but she seems almost passive aggressive." Ray replied, then took a bite of his salad.

"Yeah, seems like it. But why it's causing breaches to occur and drawing you and that other boy in is not quite clear. That didn't happen before."

"Even AIs have moods," Bart said. "One of the most abrasive personalities I know is a guy who's essentially an organic computer."

And he couldn't help the fond exasperation that crossed his face at that. So he didn't hide it, instead deciding that he had enough for a first round and started looking for a table to camp out at as he laid siege on the food offerings.

"Dimensional bleed isn't that unexpected a side-effect when you've got major turbulence in the timestream," Bart said, brow furrowing a little. "The real problem with alterations of the timeline is the way it tends to cover its tracks. Most people will experience a little short-term confusion, and then the new memories of events cover up the old and they forget it was ever different. I've only met a couple other people who have some level of temporal resistance, and even then, it's not certain. You have no idea how hard it is to keep things straight when you remember living the same period of time more than one way."

True, and Gideon wasn't above giving sass when the Legends disrespected her in anyway. See, she sort of demanded respect which is why they couldn't discount her even if she was an AI. Pretty sure she could easily make life hell for them--- which she is intent on doing. He nods and mulls that one over as Bart talks, then the term 'dimensional bleed.'

Marty would have a field day with this kid.

"That would be difficult, I imagine. I'm not temporally resistant, at least I'm pretty sure." He died in one version of reality, or an aberration version of him did. Then again he wasn't sure about how that all went down, just that he wasn't with the group from the future.

"I've been thinking about this place, and about how every individual thing here is occupying the same space but not necessarily the same time. It seems like, unlike last time where things were just here, occupying the time of 2017, they're also occupying their own times as well. Which means it's possible that there may not be a core timeline, but instead several different individual timelines which can be effected independently of anything else." He explains.

"Which means we might be in for some trouble."

"Turbulence," Bart repeated. "Think of it like testing a slipstream in an air tunnel. You try to interrupt it, you're going to get all kinds of vortexes depending on the shape. So where those happen, you get erosion or transference or whatever you want to call it."

He left that statement hanging as he took a few bites of steak, thinking.

"Maybe it's got something to do with vibrational harmonics."
