Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

  ∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

  ∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

  ∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

  ∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts

   1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.


   2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.


   3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.


   4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.


   5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.


   6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

   7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

   8. Wild Card. Go nuts.

That makes sense. At least the way Bart describes it, it makes sense. That would probably be an interesting power to have, but since he couldn't do it anymore it doesn't seem like a relevant topic to pursue.

Meanwhile, he has to field that minor critisism.

"So it may not be as cool as super speed and honestly it's basically useless without the Atom suit, but I'm sure there are worse powers than shrinking." Seriously, shrinking is not a stupor power.

"I just...don't see why anyone would want to be smaller," Bart admitted. "I never really got building a suit to do it, either."

"Lessee. Stealth, working with nano tech, the ability to get into small places." He pauses then and smirks.

"Besides, I figured out how to make it go big too." Okay look he might seem smug but that's just because it's THAT cool.

"You know, I'm kinda looking forward to the day you meet Batman," Bart said, smirking back. "Pretty sure he could find a shadow large enough to lurk in at a lighting store."

"Clever. I'm reminded of Green Arrow, though I don't think he's quite that... gloomy sounding." Well, what with Oliver being here and all they will probably cross paths with Bart eventually.

"You mentioned you knew a version him, right?"

"Know of more than know," Bart admitted. "He's more my grandpa's generation. I knew Roy, and I sorta know the latest Speedy."

He considers, though. "Not sure a guy who uses boxing-glove arrows would be in the same category as one of the big three."

"Big three?" Okay explain that. Green Arrow and Flash would be the big two.

Ray just squints at that last one. He's gonna ask about that.

"Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman. The three that started it all."

"Superman is Kara's cousin, I think. I know her, but... They're on another earth. As for Wonder Woman and Batman? I've never heard of them." Maybe there were a few rumors about other vigilantes throughout the country, but nothing concrete.

"Seriously? Weird. No Amazons, but, well, I can understand not hearing of Batman. Most people assume he's an urban legend out of Gotham," Bart said.

"The only connection to Gotham I have is once seeing Bruce Wayne at a business conference." And this was right out of college too so there wasn't much to write home about. It's not like they know each other.

"Is that a name you're familiar with? He's kind of one of the most famous people I know from that town."

"He's my best friend's adoptive dad, so yeah, I know the name," Bart said, trying hard not to let any of the other knowledge he had show. "Actually, Tim ended up acting CEO for a while when he was missing. He's a year or so older than I am."

"It's a rough job. How'd he do?" Ray asks, not discounting that running a company can be rewarding and kinda fun at the time. However the hours involved and that he is possibly going to have to go back to that life to save face in that particular chunk of time. He was genuinely interested in how an 18 year old fared in the business world though.

"Nobody had any complaints," Bart said. "As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure he spent more time in the office than Bruce ever did."

Just because Tim would never fail in one of his roles.

"Impressive." Damn, the next generation will out do them, if they can just get them motivated.

Ray actually decides to go back up there and get seconds, so he says he'd be back in a second. Protein is good for you. He doesn't take as much as he did before though, and mostly the steak and some rice as a side this time, and veggies with cheese.

"I hear Bruce has a reputation but that's just billionaire gossip for you."

Bart laughs at that. "If you'd ever met Brucie, you would know that the rumors don't do him justice."

He hoped that was diplomatic enough.

"He lets you call him 'Brucie'?" So doubting that, kiddo.

But that was amusing, he shot Bart a bemused look at that, more an acknowledgement of how ridiculous that would be were it true rather than actually believing it were.

"I wish," Bart said. "Tim would probably sell tickets for that day."

"I've got another question for you. Mostly... Exactly how many superheroes do you know the secret identities of? More that, if you happen to know any of the others who are here we can prep them for that." Seemed like a good enough segue since Bart mentioned a few things about Green Arrow.

"I...don't really know. It's kinda hard to keep track of. I mean, once someone dies, it's not a secret anymore, but then, sometimes it doesn't stick. Mostly I know my team."

Bart didn't know the exact number. "Be easier to ask for specifics."

"Really I'm only concerned about Green Arrow. Do you know who he is?" He doesn't want you to get into trouble.

He studied his plate for a moment, thinking how to answer that. "I know who both of them are. Father and son. Do you really want me to say those names here?"

"Not particularly." Huh, yeah, caught him there. Probably shouldn't be talking about that sorta thing in public. He's sorta forgotten a few of those habits since living on he waverider, but then he really never did... have them that is. He clears his throat.

Both of them?

"Hey, we're not still speaking interlac, are we?" #fauxpas.

"You really think I'd bother speaking a language that hasn't been invented yet? It's easier to let people think what they want of what they overhear. Most people wouldn't realize, think we're talking about some movie plot or internet theories," Bart points out. Then he gets up, needing another helping himself.

When he returns, he picks up the conversation from a different angle. "Last I knew, Mayor Queen was still calling for the Arrow's arrest."

Okay fair. He mulls this over with his drink in hand and has to get a refill of that himself, but he's back before Bart is.

"Seems like that tracks with what's happened here, though I don't know what's going on in Star City." Interesting parallel.

Probably should avoid mentioning the fact that there's a dopplegangers as well to Oliver. Anyway, he's finished eating and is pretty content with that.. He'll just nurse this soda until they leave. He looks rather thoughtful in the mean time.
