Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts

1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.

2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.

3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.

4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.

5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.

6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

"You really think I'd bother speaking a language that hasn't been invented yet? It's easier to let people think what they want of what they overhear. Most people wouldn't realize, think we're talking about some movie plot or internet theories," Bart points out. Then he gets up, needing another helping himself.

When he returns, he picks up the conversation from a different angle. "Last I knew, Mayor Queen was still calling for the Arrow's arrest."

Okay fair. He mulls this over with his drink in hand and has to get a refill of that himself, but he's back before Bart is.

"Seems like that tracks with what's happened here, though I don't know what's going on in Star City." Interesting parallel.

Probably should avoid mentioning the fact that there's a dopplegangers as well to Oliver. Anyway, he's finished eating and is pretty content with that.. He'll just nurse this soda until they leave. He looks rather thoughtful in the mean time.

"I don't really pay attention there, either. To be honest, the only reason I even own a Stars Jersey is to mess with Tim. He's a total Gotham Knights fan, and it's rare to have a chance to yank his chain," Bart admitted.

"It doesn't mean I'm going to tell the world who's behind the mask."

"It's not the world I'm concerned about." He gives a sheepish grin, then hides it as he drinks back some soda.

It's just a matter of Oliver being from three years ago having a totally different disposition than he does when he knows him.

"I've been dodging trick arrows for years, Ray," Bart said, softly. "And I know the Arrows play for keeps."

It's a dirty little secret, but they've all seen that sometimes you have to kill to protect the world. He couldn't help thinking back to his day for that choice, and the time when Impulse saved the Universe.

"That's not an argument I want to get into, because I doubt I'd win." Just an honest assessment.

"Let's just say I'm trying to keep you on your toes. Fair warning." That is, be aware of what's happening.

"As first impressions go, I'd say you're capable enough to not get in too much trouble." Well, perhaps he's naive.

"Well, you know." He lowers his voice a bit. "For a Flash."

"I'd talk about comparing war wounds, but the only one that stuck around requires an X-ray," Bart teased back. "Bring your suit sometime and maybe you'll get to see what I can do. If you can keep up, little man."

"Heh, I think I'll just let you run ahead, metaphorically." He then gestures towards his chest.

"And I didn't quite dodge the arrow that hit me." That was technically before he was the Atom.

"Slade didn't get lucky, he planned it. Shot me full of elephant tranqs so I couldn't dodge," Bart said, quietly. "If Vic hadn't been able to get the docs in line at the hospital, I might have lost the leg, not just a kneecap. I heal fast, but that doesn't mean I heal right."

A pause. "It doesn't mean I'm not still the fastest, though. The difference barely registers most of the time, but I know it's there, and I have to add strides to take corners right sometimes."

A hardened expression follows Slade being mentioned, and he folds his hands. Slade was one of the few people he really preferred not to talk about outside of glib remarks at the man's expense, but hearing what he did to Bart? He could put and two together to know that he was talking about what Bart mentioned before.

"Sorry that happened to you. If I get the chance, maybe I can take a look at it for you. Make improvements." He wouldn't even have to do much, just shrink down and see what's in there.

"Or see if Caitlin can help."

"It's not so much of a problem, even when I'm up against another speedster," Bart said, shrugging. "And unless you can come up with anesthesia, I'm never going under the knife again unless it's similarly dire."

"Or just me shrinking down to the size of a cell and checking things out. Non invasive, atleast medically." Just taking a look.

"And I'm pretty sure, between Caitlin, me, Cisco, we could come up with something." He is pretty sure he's done eating. How about you, kid?

"It only hurts when it's cold, and, well, I really hope we won't be seeing too many freak blizzards," Bart said, grinning. "This is California, mostly."

He considers his plate, then figures unless he really wants to get Ray in trouble, he can grab more another time. Three loaded plates and dessert is really a lot for a normal meal, right?

"Doesn't hurt to make sure it's working, in anycase. But we can discuss it another time. Wanna check out the apartment? I expect you can take care of yourself, so if you want to take off and try to cover some ground that would actually be helpful." Ray replies thoughtfully. He has A LOT to process.

"If I can get the Tower furnished, I'll probably move there. Assuming it has power and stuff. The defenses seemed to be working." It didn't matter that it wasn't the Tower he knew, the Titans were still his home.

"It wouldn't take too long to map everything. If you want."

"I can look into helping you out with that." Ray says, a few stray thoughts crossing his mind about the titans.

"Maybe we should head over there."

"Dude, it's supposed to be a place away from hovering older heroes." He's grinning, though.

"Yeah well, I'm usually a really small hovering older hero." He counters, then stands and pulls his jacket back on.

"Don't make me invest in a bug-zapper."

Not that he would. Although maybe one of those suction guns...

"I'll let everyone else know what the deal is with the Tower. Fair?" He's willing to give them a fair shot at independence.

"And you don't come unless invited," Bart added, but still, he got up. He could only access the basics so far, and he was glad the knowledge he had seemed to cross over.

"It's not Grand Central Station, it's a haven."

"A haven you could use help with." He smiles at that, pausing before adding. "Assuming that we don't suddenly get sent back home just as easily as we arrived, but that's asking for too much I think."

"Only because I'm not secretly a billionare, unlike some heroes. And I don't have alien tech to build me a super-hideout, either," Bart said, standing and heading out.

"It's got basic defenses and the plumbing and lights installed. Even the pool is there, which, gotta tell you, it's actually a little weird not going up there to find a green river otter or something in there."

"I might be a billionaire again." Ray says breezily. "Though I might actually have to show up to work to use it." Which means he has to put up a front or 'hire' some people to help him pull it off.

"In anycase it might make a decent side project if we're stuck here for a while." Besides he'd like to know who funded the Tower to begin with. If these young heroes are going to be here, they might as well be equipped.

Bart has a good idea who probably funded the tower, but there would be far too many layers of protection to point at any level of Wayne Industries or whichever of the Robins it is.

"It was so much easier when Robin handled that stuff. The money, I mean. I still remember the time he managed to ship a Batmobile to the Tower and hide it in the Batarang budget."

He was still going to let Ray in the doors, but he'd be watching everything.
