Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

  ∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

  ∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

  ∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

  ∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts

   1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.


   2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.


   3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.


   4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.


   5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.


   6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

   7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

"Of course. Of course he is." Because he's doomed to always be surrounded by the family of Barry Allen.

"I wanted to hate him, too," Bart admitted. "Because he had a good run, but, well, there were others that deserved a second chance instead."

"What does that mean?" He's curious, honestly.

"I may have been named for him, but he's not the one who taught me what it's like to be part of a family. Grife, the guy can barely look at me. Wally never wanted me around, either," Bart said, remembering his bitterness.

"If there was one speedster I'd want to see again, it's Max Mercury. He didn't deserve what Savitar did to him."

God save him from those named after Barry Allen, eh? And...wait, a minute. What?

"...who?" He has never in his life heard of anyone named 'Max Mercury' or done a thing to them.

"He doesn't seem to exist in this world, but then, that's true of most of the people I know. Or knew. The ones that do, well, they're different."

"I'm not from this world. But I know Team Flash," Ha. No kidding. "And I've never heard of Max Mercury."

Much less hurt him.

"And there's another weird idea. Team Flash. Wally couldn't wait to kick me to the curb and hand me off to another speedster. Always tried to leave me behind with Linda or Piper or Jesse," Bart said, acidly.

"But Max was...he was the best. I wouldn't be who I am if it weren't for him. He taught me what it meant to have a family, to have a life that wasn't just...being fast. I learned how to slow down because he didn't see a reason not to take things as they came instead of rushing."

He can't talk about all of it, he doesn't want to. "But Savitar stole everything from him. I thought it was bad enough when I lost my speed, but seeing someone else looking out of those eyes...it just wasn't right."

"Maybe he was just trying to take back what was his." Projecting much there, Sav? Probably. He can only imagine one Savitar is like an other.

[kid_flash_found]

"The Speed Force doesn't belong to anyone, if anything, it's the other way around," Bart said, and there's a weight of experience behind that statement. "Thad thought that way, too. He's kinda my brother, I guess, but he's all Thawne. He said I stole the power from him, and didn't care if he nuked the entire west coast if he could get his connection back."

He was almost right, because Bart being the Speed Force as that older him that he remembered being had meant it wasn't available to anyone else.

"I don't just mean the Speed Force." He's utterly unable to conceive of a reality where former Barry Allens aren't Savitar.

"And what would you know about it? You weren't there."

[vivifier]

"No. Not yet."

[kid_flash_found]

"What is that supposed to mean?"

[vivifier]

"My name? Savitar."

[kid_flash_found]

"See, I would have believed Malcom Thawne first. Cobalt Blue."

More puzzlement. "Who?" This has to be much further in the future than he's ever been.

"Barry Allen, my world's Barry's twin brother. The family enmity goes back a long way."

"Your world makes no sense." The only 'twin' Barry has are temporal duplicates, for all he knows.

"Right back at you." He's the only one who ever had any kind of ability to make duplicates, and he hasn't done that in years. He's almost certain he couldn't do that anymore.

"Fair enough." A shrug.

[kid_flash_found]

"I don't know if he is that aware, but I knew you'd arrived from halfway across what we have of the city," Bart admitted. "We're all connected, after all."

[vivifier]

"I'm sure he knows." A nod. "I know. Through the speedforce."

[kid_flash_found]

"I guess if you want nothing to do with the Flash, I should probably go, too," Bart said, uncertain what he should really do. He couldn't think this one through.

An image flashed through his head of that final run, the desiccated corpses of Savitar and others as their speed had been drained into him, to merge back together in a single body. He didn't know what this Savitar wanted, but it wasn't a fate like that.

He eyes this Kid Flash, warily. Curiously. "Oh? Should you? Why is that?"
