Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

  ∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

  ∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

  ∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

  ∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts

   1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.


   2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.


   3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.


   4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.


   5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.


   6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

   7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

"I'm sure he knows." A nod. "I know. Through the speedforce."

"I guess if you want nothing to do with the Flash, I should probably go, too," Bart said, uncertain what he should really do. He couldn't think this one through.

An image flashed through his head of that final run, the desiccated corpses of Savitar and others as their speed had been drained into him, to merge back together in a single body. He didn't know what this Savitar wanted, but it wasn't a fate like that.

He eyes this Kid Flash, warily. Curiously. "Oh? Should you? Why is that?"

"Gee, I dunno, maybe having the surprise grandson around might bring up bad memories," Bart said, sarcasm dripping from the words. "And, I dunno, the whole god complex thing was always a turn-off for me. It was weird enough dating a precog."

[vivifier]

"You're not my grandson." Or is it the other way around. A slight smirk, however. A shake of the head. "Oh, how awful for you."

[kid_flash_found]

"I've met gods, some of them are even nice people," Bart commented. "But I know I wouldn't want to try to become one."

He wonders if this Savitar wants to control the Speed Force and those it connects to like the one in his world. It would put quite the damper on things.

"So who are you if you're not him? Beyond the name."

"Gods don't feel pain." Gods aren't alone. Gods aren't abandoned, shunned.

He could care less about controlling anyone connected to the Speed Force. If he can't become a God, he'll find a way to splice himself throughout every moment of time. "A time remnant."

[kid_flash_found]

"You'd think that, but it's not true. They also die," Bart said, quietly, remembering.

He frowned, though, trying to think. "You mean, like something from a defunct timeline?"

"I doubt that very much." And a nod. "Exactly like that, yes."

[kid_flash_found]

"How many gods have you met?" Bart counters. But then he lets it go with a wave of his hand. People believe what they want to believe.

"That, I can understand. There are times when I'm not sure which set of memories is from the current timeline and which are from old ones."

[vivifier]

"Well, it's not quite like that. It's not flashpoint...exactly." A sigh. "It's not like I'm Zoom, running around stealing people's speed. Keeping people captive in a mountain. I just want back what was mine." And god-hood.

[kid_flash_found]

"The life you remember, even if you weren't really the one who lived it," Bart said, and again, it's as if he's speaking from personal knowledge. He is, but he won't go into those memories too deeply if he doesn't have to.

But that word, flashpoint, it seemed to spark something, not a memory, but a sense that he should know the word as more than definitions in the twenty-seven dictionaries that happened to be in that library he memorized the night he became Kid Flash.

"I lived it! I just don't have claim to it any more." Which is just messed up. A timeline collapses and he doesn't have a family anymore? Screw that.

But, he catches the spark from the other speedster. "What?"

"A year ago, I died at the age of 21," Bart said, shrugging. "Not my smartest move, but I wasn't exactly at my best, either."

He dismisses it as if it were nothing. "That word. Flashpoint. It's...I don't know, like I should know it in some other context than when something ignites."

[vivifier]

"Well, you're alive now. And you seem sane enough."

At the question: "Barry Allen travels back in time to keep Reverse Flash from killing his mother. Creating the Flashpoint and an entirely new timeline for Earth 1. Then, he feels so guilty about it that he begs Thawne to reverse it. Only, funny enough, nothing is quite the same in the restored timeline." He sneers a little bit.

[kid_flash_found]

"I remember Grandma Iris saying something new had come up with that case," Bart said, distractedly. "I was a little too distracted dealing with Wally being mad at me over something the twins did to be able to pay attention, though."

Eidetic doesn't mean your mind is like movie. Some things just aren't in focus no matter how you might wish otherwise.

"It's a lot harder to put things back once time is altered. Try having to make sure the guy who was going to solve all of Earth's energy problems didn't get rescued from a collapsing building."

[vivifier]

"Did you do that? That sounds awful." He's ignoring the 'grandma Iris' part of it all. He did, after all, just spend months trying to kill her. The former love of his life.

[kid_flash_found]

"It beat having all of time unravel," Bart said, grimacing.

[vivifier]

"I suppose." That's a bit of a villain thing to say, he guesses.

[kid_flash_found]

"Not like this. I mean literally unraveling in such a way nothing would be left. Extant wanted complete control over time. Funny thing, he couldn't touch an out-of-time anomaly like me."

And that makes him think it might have to do with his being stuck here with a bunch of people from an alternate Earth.

"Though there were elements of that again...not Extant, though. I don't know who, exactly, just that the Speed Force wasn't playing nice with me or the rest of my family."

"And who is Extant, exactly?" So much to learn about this world that's not his.

[kid_flash_found]

"Another would-be god. Pretty sure that's dead would-be god, but it's a little iffy," Bart said, his tone clear that it's all he really wants to say.

"It's probably better if I don't talk too much about my world, since it probably can't be this one, anyhow."

[vivifier]

He takes a look around the place, shrugging. "Doesn't look like this is anyone's world. Pieces of them, maybe."

[kid_flash_found]

"I bet we could check the resonances and find out how many worlds there are," Bart admitted. "But the majority seems to be consistent with the one the Legends and their people know."

And he still doesn't know what to think about a group that contains any version of Heatwave.

"The dimensional bleed should mostly be from adjacent worlds, but Shadow and I seem to be outliers. Don't know about anyone else."

Something to ponder, then. "If that's the case, I think we found the cause of our little problem here." The Legends, he means.
