Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

  ∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

  ∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

  ∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

  ∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts

   1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.


   2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.


   3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.


   4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.


   5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.


   6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

   7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

This is a good of place as any to come out of the shadowstep, so he does, drawing Bart out with him. Within walking distance there's a tower in the shape of a T, overlooking the waterway. "That's so confusing. At least one of us knows what's goin' on. But that doesn't explain what it's happening at all." Also it's still entirely possible that that omen the Mender's spoke about was true. But then he only knew what Prometheus told him when he inquired about becoming an incarnate, which was ultimately shot down by Hellion.

Bart starts to look around, to see where they are, but then he stops, his jaw dropping as he sees the building that shouldn't be there. A rather unique building he knew almost like the back of his hand.

"No way..."

Whoa bro, what do you see? He leans forward to look at the other kid and raises what passes as his eyebrow. Wot. "What is it?" Then he looks in the direction that Bart is looking. "Its a giant T."

"It's Titans Tower. It should be in the middle of San Francisco Bay."

It takes everything in him not to just run over there and look, try and see what's there, if anyone from home...

"That's where my friends and I spend our weekends, sometimes longer."

Titans Tower? Super hero base? Count him in on checking this one out. He smirks at Bart and drops to all fours as he starts running over there. He's not gonna try to win a race or anything though, unless Bart eggs him into it. "C'mon!" He yells back.

"Don't have to ask me twice," Bart said, grinning as he put on a blur of speed, catching up and pacing Shadow easily. "Let me go first. I'd hate for some of the defenses to activate, and it might not be the same place I know. The Hall was different..."

"Got it." Said the little beasty as he ran, a little jealous of all that speed. Too bad nobody had any kinetic manipulation powers on hand cos that way you could just spread the speed around. Maybe. "Wouldn't know! We don't got a place like that at home!" He slows a couple hundred feet from the tower, waiting for Bart to give him a signal, after he runs on ahead anyway. The building is very new, like it's been freshly built. Some of the rooms aren't even finished yet.

Bart takes his time, cataloging sights, both things present and not. It's almost like a kick in the gut every time he turns and expects to see something. No statue out front with the first Titans, no garden filled with alien plants rescued from Tamaran. And it's like a tomb inside, silent, waiting, but not ready for the occupants.

He came back, and it's obvious he's a little shaken, torn by something so close to familiar. "There should be a statue out front. The first Teen Titans, Robin, Speedy, Aqualad, Kid Flash, and Wonder Girl. Not me, my cousin had the name before I took it up. He kinda outgrew it."

Hard not to notice that the kid is kinda upset about this, but he doesn't really know what to tell him. Isn't this another universe? "What if this is before any of that happened?" He suggests. As everything here is all mishmashed in time, so must this be.

"I don't know, it's just...Grife, I don't have words. It's like everything is almost right, and that's what makes it worse. The lockers don't even have insignia on them, and those were there long before we were. I'm not even sure how long Vic, Gar, and Kory were working on the plan before we got invited. Or how long Wally sat on my invite before bringing it up with Jay the night I overheard them."

It hurt, and he didn't know how to deal. "I...need to think."

Shad doesn't know what to say, or think. All he thought was this was gonna be a cool place to check out, not something emotionally damaging for Bart. Kinda made him wish he had the teleporting pass he had to Pocket D so they could go hang out there for a while in the Ski Chalet. "Bart, my dude..." He pauses, cos' being dismissive isn't the way to go and he knows it. "I really don't know what this place means to you, an' it must be important but gettin' caught up in your feelings isn't that great of an idea either. Could be badguys here."

Bart shrugged it off, shaking his head.

"I'll give you the nickel tour if you want. I bet the pool was planned to handle Beast Boy, so if you're the kind of cat that likes to swim, there's no worry about fur in the filters," he said, trying for a casual grin. "The Titans aren't really the kind of team to get targeted, so I doubt anyone would bother staking this place out. I mean, we're sidekicks, not the big guys, and nobody wants to piss off the League by playing games for attention."

Swimming. Augh. Not... well, certainly not something he prefered to do, but it was fun once in a while. "Beast Boy?" Cool. Sounds like a guy he'd hang with. The cat nods and starts walking towrads the door. "Maybe we could use this place, if it really comes down to it it looks like a good place to make a base camp. If it's as safe as you say." He remarks, approaching the landmark with interest and curiocity. It looks so new.

"Could be, but it's still got a lot of interior work to be done," Bart admitted. "The labs and some of the rooms are totally unfinished."

He considered. "Well, if you ever run into a green animal that talks, that'd probably be him. He can't change color, but he can become anything he can think of, and we never have to play guessing games to find out if Timmy fell down the well."

And that had him chuckling for more than one reason, even if he would only call Red Robin "Timmy" as a joke. It wasn't worth the glares and possible extra training sessions if he meant it too often.

A green shape shifter? Narly. Snorting at the joke, he morphs himself into his own leoine form. He still looked proportionally the same age, no glorious fluffy mane, but he was a little bulkie and more strictly lion proportioned. "I know that trick too." He says with an almost Chesire smile.

Bart laughed a little at that, and without thinking, he reaches out to ruffle the adolescent lion's ears. "Not bad. I'm just fast. Well, I can run through solid objects and create windstorms and stuff. But then, one of my best friends doesn't have any powers, and he's scary good at the work."

Bart, that is totally an invitation to play in lion logic. He chuffs and rumbles at him before moving to try and push him over to his level. The stuff about the powers? Cool but not important. He basically interupts Bart halfway through his explaination with is little pounce.

And that caught him off-guard, so fast as he might be, that still doesn't keep him from being knocked down by a lion.

So he rolls to one side, and up into a wary crouch. "Is that how it is?"

"Oh yeah." He says, grinning madly. "What's the matter Bart? Afraid of alittle kitty like me?"

"Afraid?" Bart asked, blurring into motion and tugging on Shadow's tail lightly before springing away and back far enough to probably be out of easy leaping distance.

"I'm not afraid of a half-grown lion. They're the laziest animal in the whole kingdom, especially the guys."

Into umbral space he goes, shifting around where there were a few lines of shadow before he gets close to Bart. If he can just get ahold of his shadow he can stop him in his tracks! He leaps out at Bart and tries to get him. "Funny, I always called it energy conservation!"

Bart spins, shifting to one side to dodge and give him a little shove to help Shadow along that trajectory. He should have thought about the shadows, but if he goes into the brighter areas, that won't help, and darkness doesn't seem helpful, either.

"You know, ambushes work better when you keep silent," he points out, the words blurring a little as he picks up speed, creating afterimages of himself in a dozen spots.

Oh well, that was challenging. Had to admit it that he wasn't exactly going for stealth, since that's usually what he does when he wants to hurt someone. Instead he's playing the boisterous game. "Bart uses Double Team!" Okay he likes Pokemon. His eyes go back to the ground, grying to track Bart by his shadow, which is where he charges at whenever he sees it.

"Actually, I'm more of a fan of Gust," Bart retorts, whipping up a small windstream to try to send the cat into the air.

In the air he goes, with little control over where he goes, but really, all cats land on their feet. At least any cat who knows what he's doing. He turns his body towards the wall of the tower and grabbed onto the ledge, then he lept off into another shadow. "Shadow sneak!" He shouts when he comes out behind Bart to pounce at him again.
