Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

  ∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

  ∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

  ∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

  ∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts

   1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.


   2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.


   3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.


   4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.


   5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.


   6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

   7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

   8. Wild Card. Go nuts.

"Actually, I'm more of a fan of Gust," Bart retorts, whipping up a small windstream to try to send the cat into the air.

In the air he goes, with little control over where he goes, but really, all cats land on their feet. At least any cat who knows what he's doing. He turns his body towards the wall of the tower and grabbed onto the ledge, then he lept off into another shadow. "Shadow sneak!" He shouts when he comes out behind Bart to pounce at him again.

Bart didn't put enough oomph behind it that he couldn't expect Shadow to land safely, because this was supposed to be fun.

And it's also why he doesn't dodge this time, instead trying for a simple throw to use all that momentum and redirect it.

"Here, kitty, kitty..."

Given his powers he'd be roughed up, but probably okay if they were being serious. As he moves forward he sees Bart moves and tries to snag him, hook his arm in a joint or something so he can try and pin Bart on the rebound.

Bart tries another trick as he feels the grip, vibrating free and moving again to a safe-ish distance, ready for another pounce, he hopes. From the grin on both their faces, he figures they just needed an excuse to let loose.

Still, he's not going to forget that lions are dangerous predators, and there's a reason Beast Boy rarely uses those shapes. Instincts are tricky things, after all.

Bart is wise to use caution, as not only is he a lion, but he's already mentioned that he's had trouble controlling his powers before. In any case he lands on all fours and feints a charge at him, seeing what he'd do with that. C'mon, let him get you already.

And at the charge, Bart leaps in a pounce of his own, turning a chase into a wrestling match, not caring that there's no way he'll end up on top. It wasn't about winning, after all.

The two are on the ground now, rolling as Shad pushes his paws against Bart's shoulder to flip him. Once on top he mouths and paws at Bart's hands. Don't worry, no claws, no biting, just goofy lion antics. The noises he's making have got to be the lion version of a laugh.

Bart is laughing, too, well aware that if Shadow wanted him hurt, there had been plenty of opportunity. He's a little surprised that he hasn't gotten a few minor punctures from kneading paws and the like. Because it's friendly, he doesn't try to put an arm across the throat or try to push him away very hard. letting the kid win.

"I think you got me."

Bart could easily beat him, which meant that's basically it. Him saying uncle. He nips at his sleeve before rolling off and flopping on his side. That was fun, but now he's ready for that tour, at least after being lazy for a few minutes or so. "Yep. But if I could catch your shadow, I could stop you in your tracks, speedster."

"The problem with catching a speedster is the part where we can go faster than you can see. You'd have to plan to be where I'm going to be," Bart pointed out, and he reaches over again for a slight hair-ruffle. "Something to think about, since not all speedsters are good people."

"Good thing I got you to practice on, bruv." He replies, reaching over to give him a bump with his paw in the shoulder. "That's an understatement. Not all heroes are good people. Not all villains are totally bad either." Lots of grey area. He mulls that over. "Still I prefer not to associate anyone who wears that label like a medal."

"Totally," Bart said, grinning. "And it's always good to learn how to work with and against other powers. I wonder if there's enough room for some of the pick-up games we used to do on slow weekends. Football just isn't the same without the booby traps."

"Foot ball, Booby Traps?" He chuffs at that and smiles slightly. "When we were kids, back on Port Oakes, we usedta pretend we were badguys and the other team were villains. And it was theatrical too. People had to pretend they were dead if you got beat up enough." Basically they pounded on each other for fun. "Villains always won though."

"Well, the villains can cheat."

"Course they do, but one thing about Villains you can trust is that they'll do bad things." He says, then glancing down. Well, he already told him a little about what he was, other than he as a little bit more neutral morally speaking. He was trying though.

"I'm not sure about bad, all the time, but definitely selfish. I've got some people I know who've been considered to be on both sides of the divide," Bart said, shaking his head.

"People are really good at doing things for themselves. Sometimes I think one of the biggest difference between heroes and ordinary people is whether you run towards or away from danger."

"I'm not exactly selfless." Shadow certainly wasn't. Only a few weeks early did he accompany Longlegs on a bank heist to protect his hides from being acquired by Arachnos again. Even when he knew that he was probably lying about it. "As opposed to people causing it? I guesso, yeah. And most people run."

"Never said I was, either," Bart said, thinking of a day in the 40s and a man who could have solved the energy crisis. "I'm even a wanted criminal in the future."

It amused him, on some level. Being wanted in the 31st century for leaving it in the first place.

"I'm owned by a major villain group, says them. Not that I'd let them take me back." He's still property. He probably had a tattoo or something on his foot or something or a microchip tag or something else. He had no idea. "They scooped up all the meta kids they could find, since metas are fair game back home."

"Yeah, well, where I'm from, people can't own other people. Even metas."

"They can't do that in America, but I'm not american." Stretching his paws out infront of him and yawns, a bit of lazy catching up to him, he thinks about what else to say on the matter. "If I stay in Paragon I'll be safe, but one wrong move in the wrong place and, well... It's nice not to be there."

"Come on, lazy-bones, I bet we can find you something more comfortable than the ground to sleep on," Bart said, grinning. "I did promise you a tour."

[orions_shadow]

Lazybones, that's him. He gets up and gives himself a shake before rising to his hind legs and morphing in the same fluid movement. "Lead the way."

Bart doesn't mind that the cat-lad is going to sleep any chance he's got. He figures that he can show him the parts that are furnished until he picks a place to crash.

Hmm. Maybe they can get a decent gaming set-up.
