Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

  ∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

  ∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

  ∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

  ∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts

   1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.


   2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.


   3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.


   4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.


   5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.


   6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

   7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

"And I'm pretty sure, between Caitlin, me, Cisco, we could come up with something." He is pretty sure he's done eating. How about you, kid?

"It only hurts when it's cold, and, well, I really hope we won't be seeing too many freak blizzards," Bart said, grinning. "This is California, mostly."

He considers his plate, then figures unless he really wants to get Ray in trouble, he can grab more another time. Three loaded plates and dessert is really a lot for a normal meal, right?

[Oh my god Felicity. He snorts and sighs, Using one of his fingers to pull himself up.]

Yeah, give me a sec. That was kinda rough. [Heh. Oh jeez.]

"Doesn't hurt to make sure it's working, in anycase. But we can discuss it another time. Wanna check out the apartment? I expect you can take care of yourself, so if you want to take off and try to cover some ground that would actually be helpful." Ray replies thoughtfully. He has A LOT to process.

[Her eyes go wide at the realization of how what she said could be taken, and of course Ray catches it. Just once she'd love to stick her foot in her mouth and have no one notice. Is that so much to ask?] Any broken bones or anything? [Thankfully it's a lot harder to break bones of tiny things when they fall, but just in case it's important to check.]

Not really sold on it. You're aiming for something better than chaos, aren't you?

"If I can get the Tower furnished, I'll probably move there. Assuming it has power and stuff. The defenses seemed to be working." It didn't matter that it wasn't the Tower he knew, the Titans were still his home.

"It wouldn't take too long to map everything. If you want."

[She bites back a quip that he might not have any left, but that's mean. Like, actually literally mean of her to say. So she won't. Ray is, after all, the third (maybe second) most prideful man she's ever had the privilege to know. Even if he's managed to learn humility. Being a Legend has been really good for him.] Can you get big again?

Ray knows Oliver is smart, but he did tailor his explanation to him. His reaction, Ray thinks, is more a lack of patience and exasperation than anything. As Oliver predicts, he does begin to follow up what he said, but he takes the que and nods, defeated.

"It would make most things easier. But it makes you feel better, I'm glad you're here. Well, sorta. It's not exactly ideal that anyone is here. But you're reliable and dedicated and we need that." To keep everyone safe.

I have a very sordid job history.

[She's only teasing, but to an extent it's true. Hacker in college, her first day job in Star City ending up netting a mystery and working with a vigilante. Also bringing back her hacking skills and putting them past what she expected she had. Her second being bought up by an annoying billionaire and her last working for said billionaire before being given his company and then fired by the board.

Right, sordid was probably an understatement. Weird would be better.]

What about you? Not job-wise, I mean do-wise.

Scouting, evacuations, pretty much the usual for someone like me. It's not like I have all that much to add to a team when your best friends are a guy trained by the World's Greatest Detective and Superman's clone.

"Los Angeles, mostly. Well, a part of it. Try and go too far and you get bounced back, which lends credence to the dimensional bubble theory, but with a lot of weird time shenanigans added for flavor," Bart said, nodding where a London two-wheeler is merging easily with more modern traffic.

"I know I wasn't exactly expecting to wake up, let alone in another world."

"What caused this?" It wasn't him, was it? Because that wasn't his intention with the speed-canon at all.

"Your guess is probably as good as anyone's. Time is broken, apparently, and not for the first time, if you believe some of the stories I've heard. There's a crashed Time-ship, though," Bart said, grimacing a little. "Wouldn't surprise me if the Reverse-Flash were involved. He's just the kind of guy to do that."

"A time ship." He pauses, careful in his next wording. "Eobard Thawne? He's here?"

"I sure hope not," Bart said, shuddering a little. "Pretty sure he hates me more than any other member of the family."

It's just his luck that because his mom was a Thawne, Eobard takes his choice of sides personally.

"You look like another speedster I've seen here, though."

Things that make Savitar freeze in place: mention that Thawne hates this kid, and the other thing. "I'm not him." Don't even say the name. "Why would he hate you?"

She reaches down to help him up. Poor kid. She can't even imagine what that has to be like. Well, actually, she can, but she's not going to now. She's going to focus on him. The little lion kid who just got stomped by a ship that is usually really nice. At least she was both times Felicity had been on board.

Her eyes glance at the ship, sitting there stoic and silent. What was she thinking? What were any of them thinking at this point? This is the second time she's seen Gideon do something like this to someone. Physical aggression isn't going to work. They'll have to think of other ways to get in.

Of course, she has an idea.

"She's usually a lot nicer."

"Because I chose to take after my grandfather instead of his side of the family," Bart said, not sure how better to explain things. "It's a betrayal, or something."

He's often wondered if that was a piece of why he was faster than any other Flash. He hoped not.

"I sorta assumed the first part. Given obvious differences."

"Your grandfather?" The tone is light. The look on his face, should the other speedster care to notice, is very much an 'oh no, oh no why' sort of look. "Who's that?"
