Test Drive; December

Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Aside from that, happy test driving.

Instructions:
Post with Character you'd like to test drive using Name and canon in the subject line.

Prompts

   1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.

   2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.

   3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.

   4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.

   5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.

   6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

   7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

   8. Wild Card. Go nuts.

2. Video

[When his furry little face turns on this broadcast, he doesn't seem to really know what he's doing. Never realy used a skype or video call before as he never really used these things. Smart phones and his paws aren't a great match, but this one had a stlus with it so he was doing alright. Still he's looking at the screen, not the camera.]

So anyone here from Primal Earth? [And he looks at the camera, that's where he's supposed to look?]

You know, Paragon City, Rogue Isles? Well if you're from the isles you might not wanna mention it, lots of capes around here so far. Heh.

Anyway I'm Shadow, and I'll try to stay outta trouble.

8. Waverider Vigil

So far as he's noticed, one of the biggest concern were the dinosaurs. Clearly a threat, he sat the next morning on a pile of rocks near keeping a watch out for the larger ones and attempting to lure them away to the field that Martin pointed out to him. So far he's been doing an okay job keeping watch so the adults could do their work. Sure, he's starting to look a little bored, but it was a job he decided to take on by himself, so it's not as though he's being asked to do it.

He end up laying on is side and watching the adults mull around the ship for a while while he lounges in the shade.

8. Ship entry attempt.

In all the numerous ways the Legends have tried to get into their ship, that the boy's seen so far, Shadow getting the sense it was time to try a little dimensional trick. Technology and magic usually didn't work, so umbral space seemed like a reasonable solution to this dilemma. Even so he wasn't exactly in a hurry to get out of this place.

"Hey! Lemme give it a shot!" He called, standing up on his perch before he drops into a shadow step, the shadow he entered making a bee line for the ship. When it disappeared into the shadow cast by the ship, the ship's lights suddenly turned on, all of them, flooding the area in light which made the shadows around the area flicker in an odd supernatural way. The light flashes brightly and Shadow is forced out of his shadow and collapses in a heap. To add insult to injury, a spot light shines on him, making it incredibly difficult to recover, given how bright it is.

7. Christmas meant one thing. Eggnog. He didn't know if this place would have any, or when the drink was invented, but he was looking for it, because unlike certain other capes around here, this kid couldn't tolerate hot chocolates that well.

Currently he's finding whatever parties he could find and crashing them to find out if they had what he wanted. Turns out he might be a bit of an addict.

Swimming. Augh. Not... well, certainly not something he prefered to do, but it was fun once in a while.

"Beast Boy?" Cool. Sounds like a guy he'd hang with. The cat nods and starts walking towrads the door.

"Maybe we could use this place, if it really comes down to it it looks like a good place to make a base camp. If it's as safe as you say." He remarks, approaching the landmark with interest and curiocity. It looks so new.

Felicity had actually just arrived at Verdant and was hoping to be able to get into the terminal downstairs when a hand rested on her shoulder. At first, she thought it might be Oliver, or anyone from the teams that hadn't yet been found. Then the person spoke and she couldn't turn quick enough before she was face to face with her mother.

"Mom!" Her voice seems to take on a high, startled pitch as she searches Donna's face for any sign that this isn't her mother. She can't find any. "When, when did you get here?"

Barry yes, Oliver, not yet. Which is weird because the first person you'd expect me to find would be Oliver right?

[She probably doesn't seem as panicked as she should be, but for her, if the Waverider is here then the Legends are and she trusts every one of the Legends with her life.]

Cisco's here though, Thea and Caitlin too. I've seen a few people I don't know too.

"We've got Iron Heights prison. Complete with it's own meta wing for people with, basically superpowers. We should write a guidebook. 'Top places to go if you enjoy comic books' or something like that." She catches a sight of red hair. "Ooh! I think I see you!"

"Well does the cause of current Gotham problems being an insane asylum count along with a coworker who speaks fluent riddle?" Kristen observes. And in spite of the retro wardrobe there's something about her in full steam.

Kristen had slipped off part of her twin set as a beacon so there was a blob of pink waving around the same time. "Rumors were flying around GCPD for ages but nobody could confirm anything outside of off the record rumors and the like."

"Actually, not so much. I mean, Deathstroke had some personal issues he was working through, and I kinda had a thing with his daughter," Bart said, and he can't help grinning at that. "It was good, really. Between the Titans and Young Justice, I was never alone. Max and Helen taught me what it was like to have a family, and Jay..."

Bart shook his head, remembering. "If I'd had to pretend to be normal all the time, it would never have worked out. The one thing an Allen never does well is run away."

   1.
This whole thing is amazing. Her first thoughts on seeing everything jumbled together like this was the 'end of time' episode of Doctor Who. If she were stuck in Doctor Who she wouldn't be that upset about it - only she would be since she had other things she had to do. Like get back to everything going on back in Star City and actually telling her mom that she and Oliver were married.

Ugh, telling her mom was going to be hard and might physically kill her hearing. Better to not think about that right now. Better to just bask in the broken sci-fi-ness of all this before she ... before she what? Before she woke up maybe. This was a pretty vivid dream actually, if it was a dream. She'd force that belief on herself, but after aliens and Nazis, and everything that she'd been through in the past six years she wouldn't discount anything as real.

Better to focus on the normalcy that she might be able to get around here. A burger from Big Belly Burger or a coffee from Jitters. Actually, that coffee sounded good. She pushed her hands into the pockets of her soft pink coat and started out toward an area that might look like it had a coffee shop on it. Unfortunately, the only one she saw seemed to be the one that was being covered in snow.

   2.
[She'd tried to make several actual calls on her phone, but it seemed that the numbers were 'out of service'. No Oliver, no Diggle, no Curtis. No one that, for her, would be phoning home.
Of course, there was what Gideon had said. There was that option.]

Right, soooooo, anyone who knows my voice knows I'm probably looking for them. Especially if they have an explanation to what's going on. I mean I'd say it's some sort of temporal displacement on a huuuuuuuuge level, but I'm not the expert here.

[There's a pause as she debates what to say next.]

So, temporal displacement? Who am I? Who are you? Discuss.

7. Come at her.

"Could be, but it's still got a lot of interior work to be done," Bart admitted. "The labs and some of the rooms are totally unfinished."

He considered. "Well, if you ever run into a green animal that talks, that'd probably be him. He can't change color, but he can become anything he can think of, and we never have to play guessing games to find out if Timmy fell down the well."

And that had him chuckling for more than one reason, even if he would only call Red Robin "Timmy" as a joke. It wasn't worth the glares and possible extra training sessions if he meant it too often.

A nod, he listens as he starts moving along towards the next exhibit. From what he can tell, the life of a teen hero like this one is almost more complicated than that of an adult.

"Tell me something. Your teams, they're made of sidekicks? That assumes that the adult heroes are on their own team, am I right?" Because that woul be irresponsible otherwise.

"How established where they when you guys formed?"
pocket_sized: (I should have thought of that.)

[personal profile] pocket_sized 2017-12-01 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
That is a voice I know.

Hi Felicity.

[There's Ray, amicable and warm as always, especially with Felicity.]

We've got a few ideas being tossed around but nothing concrete yet. I think we might be in a pocket dimension of some kind.

[personal profile] kid_flash_found 2017-12-01 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Teams, really," Bart said, thoughtful. "But the first Robin was twelve when he began, and I don't think Speedy and Kid Flash were that much older. And yeah, we all have home cities and mentors and stuff, well, Arrowette didn't, but that wasn't her fault, and she's retired, anyway."

He shrugged. "Usually we don't go anywhere without some kind of backup, but the point of the Teen Titans was to have a place where we could go where folks like Superman and Batman weren't always looking over our shoulders. I'm just glad not the be the first generation of that, as it were."

She can't help smiling at how Thea talks about Roy. She hopes they still see each other, but it wouldn't really be living in hiding if she asked Thea about it. Besides, now wouldn't be the time to do so.

Following the trail, she manages to find the other girl and crouches down next to her. "Hey." She offers a small smile and really wants to pull her into a hug right now. She's not sure if Thea got all the glass though.

"Oh, I am so not complaining. I'll take a tablet and a router at this point." She'd rig it somehow. His confession that he phased through the door just brings a smile to her face. Trust Barry to talk about phasing through things like it's totally natural and normal to do so. "I'd love to take a look around; though if we can find the bunker too, that'd be even better." Or Star Labs, or anything that was later than circa 2013.

What gives you that idea?

[There are her nerd people! Well, one of them. Now they can get down to figuring some things out.]

And hi Ray, what's the last thing you remember? Because Thea is from like, three years ago.

Temporal displacement isn't usually this widespread. Speaking as someone who grew up a thousand years before he was born, I have a tiny bit of experience.

Ouch.

And I mean yeah, if you're thinking about a single person or thing being moved, but what if someone was taking a lot of little things and moving them to the same place? I mean I'm totally up for any suggestions. That's just my current running one ... which is running into the ground as it were.

It actually reminds me more of some of the weird shit Bedlam pulled, but he was trying to rewrite the nature of reality. Or someone tried to change things that resisted being changed, but it's more than just a simple hiccup in spacetime.

I wish Brainy were here.

The wedding. Rather, I suppose we could call it the annual get together.

You alright? It's pretty dangerous out there and I'm speaking more to the fact that there are dinosaurs and pretty much something from every era of human history. Brave new world, so to speak.

[He pauses, before moving on to explain.]

Barry told me that he tried running home, and was boomeranged back into the city. We can't actually leave.
justanitgirl: (pic#8477971)

[personal profile] justanitgirl 2017-12-01 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
[Those actually sound like names Cisco would make up.]

So you're saying you think someone is trying to remake reality?

[That's a lot bigger then she was thinking.]
kid_flash_found: (subtext)

[personal profile] kid_flash_found 2017-12-01 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
I'm saying you don't get parallel times and realities crossing to this extent without some serious power behind it. Not saying it couldn't be natural, but, well, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I hate time travel. Nothing good ever comes of it.
justanitgirl: (pic#8477972)

[personal profile] justanitgirl 2017-12-01 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
That's actually not a bad idea, having an annual get together.

[She pauses, looking around. Right, not exactly the casual walk down the street, but she's managed to avoid murderers and raptors.]

Which means someone is trying to keep us here.

[That doesn't sound ominous at all, does it?]
