Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.

2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.

3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.

4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.

5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.

6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

And I mean yeah, if you're thinking about a single person or thing being moved, but what if someone was taking a lot of little things and moving them to the same place? I mean I'm totally up for any suggestions. That's just my current running one ... which is running into the ground as it were.

It actually reminds me more of some of the weird shit Bedlam pulled, but he was trying to rewrite the nature of reality. Or someone tried to change things that resisted being changed, but it's more than just a simple hiccup in spacetime.

I wish Brainy were here.

[Those actually sound like names Cisco would make up.]

So you're saying you think someone is trying to remake reality?

[That's a lot bigger then she was thinking.]

I'm saying you don't get parallel times and realities crossing to this extent without some serious power behind it. Not saying it couldn't be natural, but, well, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I hate time travel. Nothing good ever comes of it.

I can't say it's an everyday occurrence for me. Usually, I stay in the van.

[Wait, that sounded bad.]

I don't even know how to fix that one without making it worse.

Support has its place. I know at least one person who never leaves their lair for the streets. Well, know of. The Bats and Birds are really protective of Oracle.

[There's a soft snort and what comes next doesn't seem to be intended to be above her own thought level.]

Oliver did say it was taken.

[Than in a tone intended to be heard.]

I've been known to kick a butt or two. Just ... not in a time travel way.

[Unless you count that time with the Dominators. She totally does.]

Hm. Yeah, well, like I said, I got sent back in time to grow up. Not that I'm complaining, because I wouldn't have had much of a future otherwise.

Past...whatever. English really doesn't have enough tenses for this kind of thing.

[a pause]

I'm not implying that you couldn't kick butt. I usually get stuck running everyone to safety, or scouting, or other support duties myself. Being the responsible one is not for me.

[She's about to say something but then she stops.]

You're worse at words than me. Huh?

[She never expected that. She's also pretty sure he didn't mean to imply that she wasn't responsible. It just came out that way.]

Um, maybe? Or I'm just off my game because my grandpa is apparently here and he hasn't even married my grandma, and he's not blond....

Most people aren't. Blond that is, but I guess it works for married to your grandma too.

Unless she got a lot of divorces.

It's still weird. People who are almost like what you remember, but not. Not that I really know Grandpa Barry, beyond the usual stuff.

No divorces. Who wants to lose their lightning rod?

[He now has her full and undivided attention.]

Barry and Iris are your grandparents?

[There's a mix of shock and trying not to laugh.]

Also, Barry should never go blonde, like, ever. He'd look horrible.

Um, yeah. Does everyone here know them or something?

Besides Ray because you had to be the one who said Wally was a redhead. Yeah, also not a good look.

Um, mostly just him.

Yeah, that would be me, and my cousin is a redhead. Just like my grandfather is blond, and they both have blue eyes. Although if the holograms in the museum were anything to go by, I can sorta see why someone might say that.

Except Wally would be your great, uncle, wouldn't he? I mean he's Iris's brother.

[Barry, your family is getting more confusing by the minute. She's seriously glad he was already in love with Iris when they met. Otherwise, this might have been her super confusing weird time mixed up family.

Wait, that actually kinda sounds cool.]

Clearly this is another time thing. Because as I said, he's my cousin. Iris's nephew. Current Flash, except that Grandpa's back in the suit again.

But then, I can't really complain when there's a new Impulse, too, even if Wally will never forgive me for it.

That .... sounds rough.

Do you need a hug? I give great hugs.

After all the crap he gave me when I was Impulse? It takes everything in me not to bring popcorn.

[Yeah, he's grinning. Wally deserves the karma, as far as he's concerned.]

And I'm not egging her along in any way. Splitting my time between San Francisco and Keystone and Central Cities is awkward enough.

Not that I'm saying not to hugs. I'm definitely a fan.

[She's pretty sure he just started talking about things she has no idea about.]

Long story, probably not relevant in this world. At least, not yet.

I forgot Ray said there's only been metas for five years. I think I've been running around for that long, and, yeah, third generation speedster here.

I'm still getting my head wrapped around who is and isn't here.

[She's been thinking about this since he said he was related to a Barry and that he was a speedster, but now she's got the change to ask.]

So ... is superspeed genetic then?

Well, yes and no. I think it's more the Speed Force has a relationship with our family. I know of one case of twins where only one has powers.

[He's trying for tact, because he doesn't want to break people mentioning Wally in his world has twins, and Iris doesn't look much younger than Bart does, even if Jai is a few years younger than that.]

Metagenetics are weird.

That makes sense actually.

[She knows enough about what goes on in Central City to know that Barry seems to have a very specific relationship with the Speed Force.]
