Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

  ∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

  ∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

  ∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

  ∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts

   1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.


   2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.


   3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.


   4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.


   5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.


   6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

   7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

The hood never quite fit right, even when he started folding his ears when he had it up. Grey furry fingers with hands far thicker than they should be and his proportions slightly off, like his shoulder blades aren't even the right shape, so he holds himself differently. He can't really pass for human, not the way his body was torn apart and put back together. all the hood is for is so people give him less grief, rather than trying to hide. "You're right." He concedes, as this has proven to be really, really complicated so far and that's stacked against everything he's ever seen. "What do you know about this place?" She knows something, hopefully she won't make him work for the information.

That was my first thought, but then I grew to about a foot from the size of a peanut. For now, the size I'm at now seems to be fairly stable.

If you can't get any tool boxes from the ship I guess I can probably make due with a soldering iron and a set of screw drivers. Going to need to find the smallest set you can find.

If we can convince her. We're actually having trouble getting her to let us board the ship.

This is accepted easily, as is Bart's reluctance to tell him. Ray picked up a little bit on that, his body language, facial expression, kinda seems like hes holding back but that's fine. It's sensitive.

More importantly was the information about the Science Police.

"Do you think you'll be recognized?" He started noticing the dramatic shift of scenery, going from general contemporary Los Angeles from what he could tell, to effectively, the far future. It looked alien to him.

Not quite as amusing as he'd hoped for, but at least she is moving right along so he lets it slide just as easily. Have to say though, he's sensing a pattern. There are a buncha capes here and they're the only ones who don't seem to be reacting to him the way he expects normies and strangers to. Heh. Maybe she's just really nice? "Well, luv, you can either sit up here with me or take a seat inside the carriage. Door's roit there." Damn his accent sucks, oh well, he's hamming it up, that grin returning to his face once she'd smiled so nicely at him, might even be looking a bit bashful.

Oh, he feels that. Frost forms on the car and he scooots away from that. Why does it have to be cold? Nope. Looking her over though he tilts his head. "You're a different person?" How weird, convenient he supposes. He's no stranger to a body being inhabited by two people, after all, he is such a person, though his was a fusion of two beings and he couldn't discriminate one from the other, or switch. "And who are you?"

"It's a possibility, but they didn't when I ran through this area before. Of course, I was also moving at speed, so they wouldn't have seen me without help," he admitted. "But I can't go that fast with a passenger. The president's goons always knew that, but I'm not sure how far down the chain it went. On the other hand, the Museum was always a big deal."

He didn't really know. Instead he took a moment and shifted to Interlac to see what happened. "Welcome to the 31st century, Doctor Palmer."

This is a good of place as any to come out of the shadowstep, so he does, drawing Bart out with him. Within walking distance there's a tower in the shape of a T, overlooking the waterway. "That's so confusing. At least one of us knows what's goin' on. But that doesn't explain what it's happening at all." Also it's still entirely possible that that omen the Mender's spoke about was true. But then he only knew what Prometheus told him when he inquired about becoming an incarnate, which was ultimately shot down by Hellion.

Something which complicates things a bit, but he's got at least one suggestion for the kid since he's in uniform. Really the thing to do would to meet him inside the museum so nobody spots him.

He's about to suggest this before Bart switches languages, something which he's never heard before. Thankfully, he's taken to bring along some ingestible translators with him just in case.

"Hang on a sec." He says, before popping the pill and swallowing. After about a minute, he's speaking Interlac as well.

"I've been to the future, never this far forward, granted. Does it work? The translator, I mean."

Bart starts to look around, to see where they are, but then he stops, his jaw dropping as he sees the building that shouldn't be there. A rather unique building he knew almost like the back of his hand.

"No way..."

Whoa bro, what do you see? He leans forward to look at the other kid and raises what passes as his eyebrow. Wot. "What is it?" Then he looks in the direction that Bart is looking. "Its a giant T."

He's not much taller than the redhead who's hauled him through the doors into the warmth and homelike smells of the pub. He might look at her startled, but he brushes himself off. "There's certainly ...a very diverse population around here. Is that what those ruffians were?" he asks, still a bit shaken and shocky from the ordeal, but starting to pull his wits together again.

"I was born here," Bart said, sticking to Interlac to help with blending in. "This is, well, it sure looks a lot like the 31st century. Which means blending in will help."

He paused a second, concentrating, and in a flicker of lightning he was in normal street clothes rather than anything more flamboyant.

"Let's go. It's only another block and a half."

"It's Titans Tower. It should be in the middle of San Francisco Bay."

It takes everything in him not to just run over there and look, try and see what's there, if anyone from home...

"That's where my friends and I spend our weekends, sometimes longer."

"I'm not sure if that sounds better or worse then Star City." SHe sounds like she's trying not to laugh, but only a little. Comparing beloved but horrible cities seem like a good bonding experience though. "I sware trying to destroy the city has become an annual thing these days for bad guys."

"No kidding and I've seen my share of odd." came the voice of that same redhead. "Feels like a bad B movie if this was not all too real." Kristen offered,"And this is coming from someone who has seen a lot of odd." meaning Gotham. "And vikings is totally a new one, I'm Kristen by the way."

"Let me guess, annual or almost annual invasion of something crazy?" Kristen asked. "We just have an insane asylum that seems to be one of the big sources of trouble at least over the last few months." she explained.

Titans Tower? Super hero base? Count him in on checking this one out. He smirks at Bart and drops to all fours as he starts running over there. He's not gonna try to win a race or anything though, unless Bart eggs him into it. "C'mon!" He yells back.

Nifty trick, especially since he didn't see any street clothes on him. As for Ray, his conscious, that little jimminy cricket in his psyche, tells him to try not to mentally reverse engineer the things he's seeing here. Best not to produce technology that's hundreds if not a thousand years away.

Try being the operative word here. He nods and follows his lead, hands in his pocket. Soon enough, they walk up the steps to the museum and Ray is a bit taken back by it all.

"Don't have to ask me twice," Bart said, grinning as he put on a blur of speed, catching up and pacing Shadow easily. "Let me go first. I'd hate for some of the defenses to activate, and it might not be the same place I know. The Hall was different..."

Bart grins. That look never gets old. He wondered what Ray would have thought of Legion World, or some of the other things that were out there. It made him miss Gates and Jenni, and even Brainy and that damned monkey.

"Welcome to the Flash Museum, the shrine of speed, et cetera," Bart said. "It's not home, but it's much."

"I'm not exactly the most robust individual," the short guy who looks like the definition of a nerd (albeit a nerd in an off the rack black suit) says, from his cover behind the basin of a fountain. He might have started pulling his scattered wits together staring past the interloper... and then really staring at the ice walls between the Amazons and the spooked shoppers. The Amazons might have started taking tentative jabs at the ice.

"It's colder than I thought it was..." he says, completely thrown by this experience. "Water main broke?"
