Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

  ∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

  ∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

  ∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

  ∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts

   1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.


   2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.


   3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.


   4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.


   5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.


   6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

   7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

Work alone? You'd have to be crazy if you were a normie to say that, but... "I'm Shadow. I take it you're either highly badass or you've got some kinda power." Which means if she wants to go that's fine by him. "Just don't get into trouble you can't get yourself out of." He's gonna give you the benefit of the doubt that you're not a damsel and can take care of things on your own.

"Well."

She takes a deep breath and lets the transformation take over her. Her eyes turn into an icy blue color, her hair bleeding into a white blonde, her lips turn a dark, sparkling blue and the temperature around her drops significantly. She smirks at him and moves to get eye level with him.

"Don't worry your little furry self," she nearly purrs with a strange tone to her voice. "She's got me."

Oh, he feels that. Frost forms on the car and he scooots away from that. Why does it have to be cold? Nope. Looking her over though he tilts his head. "You're a different person?" How weird, convenient he supposes. He's no stranger to a body being inhabited by two people, after all, he is such a person, though his was a fusion of two beings and he couldn't discriminate one from the other, or switch. "And who are you?"

"Same person, just a lot more free, darling," she replies easily. She can't help herself but creates another patch of frost out of his reach. "Killer Frost is what they call me. Can't say that I hate the name all that much."

With a name like that he's getting some 'killer' villain vibe, but it's also in the way she's moving and talking. Fur starts to stand up on the back of his neck as he's not sure how to deal with her. There's no need to start a fight and he can bail if he wants. "I can see that." The boy replies, regarding her with caution. "Where exactly are you planning on going?"

She rolls her eyes.

"I really need to start just going by Frost. If they hurt my friends, though, some digits would go missing. Don't worry. I've got no interest in killing anyone."

Frost backs up a little to give the guy a little bit of room.

"As much as I'm not a fan of it, I'm working with the good guys."

Is it odd that Shadow can feel the weight of the baggage that comes with this form? The sudden total shift between Caitlin and this character is more than a little daunting. "That's probably a good thing, but it's not like I'm a hero either." More of a rogue. He usually stays out of the hero's way.

"Oh good. I'm finally around interesting people."

She looks off into where the worlds mash and lay on top of each other and frowns a little. The ice from her eyes start to disappear, warming into brown. The rest of Caitlin's coloring returns and she looks at him.

"So, not quite helpless."

"She's the reason you wanna work alone?" He asked, totally willing to give her that wide berth she's asking for right now. Not that he's scared, he just doesn't wanna get involved in that level of cray cray. "Ice powers are pretty handy. Kinda popular with the Outcasts." He muses. It's a group he knew pretty well, and sometimes annoyed or associated with. He slides off the car and grabs it by the bumper before he lifts it easily a foot off the ground. "I'm not helpless either." Though he has to lower the car fairly quickly.

"Sometimes. I have a better control of both of us now. I hope she wasn't too bad." Caitlin gives him an apologetic smile. She takes a step back when she sees him lift the car then set it down. "I would have believed it already but that definitely solidifies it. How long have you been here, again?"

[orions_shadow]

If he hadn't already experienced this kind of split personality with Peacebringers and Warshades running around Paragon City all the time. That line alone earns an easy shrug. "Well, okay, like, I took a nap when I first got here so... six hours maybe?" Yes, this is a kid who looks at a world like this and just goes back to sleep.

[snowandfrost]

"Six hours? Was it like this when you got here?" she asks, already taking mental notes as to how people and creatures appeared here.

"Have you found shelter? I know Gideon mentioned things but perhaps you've found things?"

"Yeah, but I was on the east coast before I got here. One minute I'm heading to pocket D, next minute I'm here." Wait a second there, he was already traveling through dimensions when it happened... "Weird..."

[snowandfrost]

"Pocket D? What's that?" she asks. "I was on my way to work in Central City. Next thing I know, I'm here."

[orions_shadow]

"It's a pocket dimension containing a nightclub for superheroes and villains. Neutral ground." Toby's gonna be pissed at him for not showing, but hey, he had a good excuse not to be there.

[snowandfrost]

"There's a neutral ground that's a nightclub?" she asks. Wow, they really needed to explore more outside of their little pocket of Central and Star Cities.

[orions_shadow]

"Can't use your powers or nothin." Which should be expected in a place like that, but he was just going to go to the ski chalet or see if anyone wanted to head into the Arena so he could have a good fight. "It's pretty fun except people've been kicking me out from behind the bar as of late." So he might have had a drink or two... "Probably because I tried to mix steak and icecream in the blender."

[snowandfrost]

"...how old are you again?" she asks, suspicious as to why he would mix steak and ice cream.

[orions_shadow]

"Fourteen." He says as if it's no big deal. Also, dude, he's a lion. Lions like meats in their treats.

[snowandfrost]

"Why would you be behind a bar at 14?" she asks, because that's what she's really concerned about. Not the fact that they're in a time broken place or that he's part lion.

[orions_shadow]

"Cos I wanted to use the blender? Also that's where they keep all the drinks n' stuff." He might be addicted to Baileys. It's cream, what can he say? He sees no problem with this.

[snowandfrost]

"They might have kicked you out because you're a lot on the underaged side to be at a bar. Where's your--" She hesitates to use the word family and Caitlin presses her lips together to consider the best way of asking.

[orions_shadow]

About to answer her regarding the bar before she trails off on that last note, but he knows what he's about to say and his expression fades to one of pensive and chagrine. "They're not around."

[snowandfrost]

She thinks on it. Caitlin isn't the warmest person around, she'll be the first to admit to it.

"In that case, do you want to stick together? I'll bet even Frost will behave. She's not really a Killer. It's just a name. Mostly, people have lost toes and fingers. Brain freeze. Maybe a little frostbite."

[orions_shadow]

"I guesso." She's pretty harmless except for the cold lady. Even then he could flee before she hurt him badly. "Well, I don't like the cold but I like playing in the snow." He admits. "Kinda a lion thing, y'know?" Too bad he can't stay in the sun.
