Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

  ∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

  ∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

  ∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

  ∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts

   1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.


   2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.


   3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.


   4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.


   5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.


   6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

   7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

"I've already been over the place as thoroughly as I know how, even sticking my head through walls and crawlspaces looking for secret rooms and stuff," Bart said, shrugging. "The place was built for the Teen Titans, and I'm a Titan. Besides, it's one of the few places I know here that can survive just about anything. And it's home. More than any other place I've had since..."

He trails off, looking off into the distance towards the giant T-shaped skyscraper that was in some ways more familiar than anything else. "Any other Titan who shows up will head there, too. What Nightwing and Arsenal and the others began is the definition of who we are. Titans Together."

Sara's facial features might be torn between wrinkling up, as he talks about putting himself through the whole of a ghost town, and smoothing out, as he talks about nothing biting back yet. Either way, Sara doesn't really trust it, and she likes even less while her own ship is completely on lockdown. It's too early. Too convenient. Too wrong. Too much like someone pulled things that people might need, while, also, pulling three or four dozens from everywhere else, too.

"Never heard of any Titans, but--" And this is a little shrewd because he's not in the slightest familiar. "--I did know someone named Arsenal once. Probably not the same person. Ours had a prevalence for a lot of red leather and putting arrows through things."

"Might be a variation on the same guy," Bart said. "I know ours started out as the younger partner of Green Arrow, before he struck out on his own. Some things are a little similar. Off from the timelines I knew, though. But what isn't, here."

He shrugs, shaking his head a little. "On my Earth, whichever one it might be from here, my grandparents were Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen. A bit of a legacy to live up to."

Give Sara a second to blink at that.

Even with having so recently come from Earth-X.
Even with Leo as the thorn in her foot daily.









"I know all of those people."

"Dr. Palmer knew at those names, too," Bart said. "I just...there's a lot of ground to cover, and I want to help."

He knows it could be problematic. "Let's just say that I also wanted to meet anyone who could get an independent player like the Atom to follow their lead."

Sara's gives sort of shrug, more one shoulder than the other, but there's an unqualified sort of smugness that absolutely shines in the twist of her mouth, that looks half-headed toward a smirk. "You could say that about a lot of the Legends."

None of them were exactly those you'd take for team-players, and yet they could be the worst of shit shows alone, and together, as Legends, they did things that were impossible. On a normal basis. And, sometimes, it was even alright for all of time and space.




And, sometimes, they ended up in a time bubble, with a crashed ship, trying to figure it out.

"And I thought I'd heard some pretty weird group names over the years," Bart said, shrugging. "Legends don't exactly tend to have a long shelf-life."

Sara doesn't pause. Sara doesn't let the memory, or two, trying to slam the top of her throat like the righteous fist of an angry, suppressed god, beating at the door with a battering ram, have the fucking time of day. Not even to make her blink or her gaze even the iota of an inch for the young boy. It's not allowed. Not here. Almost not ever. She doesn't even look insulted by the dig, just blandly amused.

"We like it, but then we've never really cared about getting brand approval."
Not they'd get it. Not from the Time Masters. Not from the Bureau.

Bart sighs, shaking his head a little. "I just meant...grife. The only hero I know who wanted brand approval sold advertising space on his uniform, and considered his ass prime realty."

The response comes without a hesitation, and only a little cock of her head, while that smirk finally flushes itself out. Speculative, like that was the most important part of what he just said. Whether he chose his prime real estate correctly. "Was it worth it?"

"You've clearly never met Booster Gold. I'm not sure anything is worth dealing with him."

Sara shakes her head, easily. That's not a name that draws up any registry. "Nope. Can't say that I have."

Not that he sounds entirely terrible thus far. Though that joke could go either way.

"Not that that entirely means he's not around, back home," she tosses into it with easy casualness.
"The Legends aren't home as much as the rest of the people you'll find around here. Or that you were listing."

"So Ray mentioned. Time travel's a bitch. I hate it, for all I have friends and family in the 31st century," Bart admitted. "But I'm also temporally resistant, which means I remember when things shift around a lot longer than the average joe."

He figured that might be a good thing in a situation like this.
