Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

  ∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

  ∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

  ∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

  ∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts

   1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.


   2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.


   3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.


   4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.


   5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.


   6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

   7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

"Sorry, probably shouldn't have said anything. Time travel gives me a headache. Is the lucky lady here, too?"

A pause. "Fine, Big Ben it is. Don't be late."

Bart didn't even bother waiting to blur over there, running up the side to get a higher viewpoint. He might as well get a look at the guy. He wanted to assume it really was Grandpa Barry, but, well, if it was, he wasn't from the reality he'd given up his life to save. At least, he'd intended to give up everything.

"Iris? No. At least not as far as I know." But given as weird as time is, he might find her again.

And Barry? Well of course he's late.
He's always late, but this time it's only by about ten minutes as he skids to a halt before the tower. When there's no sign of Bart, he gathers his speed to race up the side of the tower.

"Sorry. Ran into a few dinosaurs."

Bart kept an eye on things, and he was turning as he felt the wake of another speedster approach. "Getting slow in your old age, Flash?"

He wasn't in uniform, but in that moment, the power he mostly was hiding glowed in his golden eyes. It was more that he'd been thinking about the power as he waited, even as he mentally reread a couple of his favorite books to pass the time.

"Grife, I haven't wrangled dinosaurs in years. Not since I used the cosmic treadmill after watching Jurassic Park for the first time."

"Old age? I'm like twenty seven!" So the kid is younger than him but still. Most of the time he's arguing with people who are calling him kid, not old.

"Ok so all of those were words but I'm still not exactly following you here. How do you know about Cisco's treadmill?"

"Technically, I won't be born for like a thousand years, and I've lost track of how old I am as it relates to solar years," Bart said, grinning. "And Barry Allen, the first Flash, was my grandfather."

"Who's Cisco? Getting the feeling we're not from the same world. But then, you're not blond, either."

Aaaand everything skids to a halt as Barry stutters over the word. "G-grandfather? I'm you.. your grandfather?"

Sorry Bart, this is gonna take him a second or two to process.

"Cisco. Um. He's.. he's my best friend back home. He's a hero too. Vibe."

Grandfather.
He's a grandfather.

"A little freaky when you haven't even married Grandma Iris yet, I take it?" Bart said, with a sympathetic smile.

"I always heard the treadmill was one of the things you built to help study you speed and the speed force. It certainly helps with running through time. Otherwise you're leaping blind."

Grandma Iris.
Barry's going to reach for the nearest solid object to keep from, you know, falling down. "Um, yeah. Actually I came here after our wedding was interrupted by Nazis. Only they were Nazis from an alternate Earth and not just ours."

Grandparents.
Which means they get a family.

"Pretty sure she's gonna kill me when I get home."

"Only if you tell her," Bart said, smirking a little, but he put a hand on the older man's shoulder. "If we're lucky, nobody will remember this once everything settles out."

That gets a weak laugh out of him. "Yeah, because keeping things from her always turns out good for people." Asses get kicked, regularly when that happens.

"So what's your take on this place? A temporal anomaly?"

"Too widespread, too many places mixing. My guess is something happened to cause either a merging or some kind of collapse, but that's just a guess," Bart said, frowning a little.

"I know she kept a lot of secrets from me, but that kinda goes with being the family historian."

It's probably different with a child than a spouse. She'd been his touchstone for the first two (twelve?) years of his life, but it was hard to say that.

"Time was a little wonky where I was before this, but nothing this bad. We all assumed it had something to do with Thawne."
