Test Drive
Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.
First, a few housekeeping things before we start:
∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.
∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.
∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.
∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.
Aside from that, happy test driving.
Instructions:

1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.
2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.
3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.
4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.
5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.
6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.
7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.
Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.
8. Wild Card. Go nuts.

But Oliver is still Oliver. She'll always know that always accept that, and always love him. No matter the point in time he's from.
It had however, given her time to hide the ring. She'll have to figure out a more permanent solution later. Probably wearing it around her neck with a chain long enough to hide it no matter what she wears, but it's at least not going to be a questioning point for now.]
I'll be here, figuring out how to make sure everyone's tracked and accounted for ... like I do.
[Ramble, don't go quiet. She knows he knows all her tells. He knows everything about her the way she knows everything about him. She has to try and alter herself and it's making her feel sick. Sick that this is happening, again, that's it's worse than before. But until they figure out exactly how to deal with this she has to.
She doubt's this is going to work.]

Good. I've heard from Sara and Thea so far.
I'll be there in a minute or two. As long as I lose the Mongols tracking me..
no subject
Still, his last comment brings a bright smile to her face. Trust Oliver to get tracked by Mongols.]
Mongols are really good at tracking. I mean not as good as you are, but good. So, basically, see ya soon.
[A beat before.]
Oh, should I order you a coffee?
no subject
[He hasn't really had the stomach to eat much in the last few days. Palmer swooping in and stealing away the company he was trying so hard to get back. Losing Sara and pushing down his own grief and sense of loss so that the others could mourn as long as he remained on track.
Honestly? He's tired.
But there's still the thrill of the chase and he's racing across rooftops with his bow in hand.
He makes it just as the coffee is being delivered at the table.] Good timing.
Hi.

Once he's in sight and on the ground, instinct takes over. She'd never be able to pinpoint when she stood, but before she was aware of it her arms were around him in a tight hug. It hasn't been a day and she knows he's been through so much. Sara's suddenly alive for him.
This is all she can do right now. This and try to explain why they can't tell him things, not until they figure out the repercussions on the timeline.]
no subject
Then she's throwing her arms around him and Oliver smiles into it, his arm coming around her to return the squeeze.] Hey. It's good to see you.
no subject
Her eyes are fixated on his, brows furrowed and that crease between them present. She's searching, not for the Oliver of 2017, that doesn't matter, but for the emotion that she knows he's been hiding, that he's swallowed down into the depths of his soul because he has to take care of the team.]
We should talk.
no subject
He's fine.
He's just fine.
Never mind the confusion and the upset that he's set aside to deal with later.]
Okay.
Do.. do I need to ask what time you're from? I swear I'm going to need a chart a this rate.
no subject
2017, and I can help you with that.
[She offers a small smile with a raise of her eyebrows.]
Has Sara or Thea explained this place to you yet?
no subject
I heard a bit from Sara, that the Waverider, her ship went down and that time was somehow.. broken? [Sorry, it's a bit much for a college dropout to process the fact that the idea that time can somehow be broken as easily as one could drop a coffee cup.] It's a lot to take in.
[Never mind the whole 'Sara was dead 48 hours ago' and Oliver doesn't know how to process it.]
no subject
[She gives his hands a reassuring squeeze. She's there, she's the same as she was three years (more or less) and she's not going anywhere. Not without him at least.]
And that's kinda true.
[She can tell that's not enough. How could it be? How could he really take all this on faith when he's got so little to go on?]
We actually have a few working theories, but the best one comes out to a time bubble. It's a theoretical place outside of the times we came from, except we're not sure if what we learn now will have an effect on the future.
[She has faith that he can put two and two together and get that it's the reason why people aren't telling him things.]
no subject
Oliver's spent too long in the dark to suffer it for too long.] I'm almost afraid to ask if anyone knows how it happened, never mind how we get home. [He reaches for the sandwich, eating more out of reflex than any genuine hunger. He needs to stay on his feet, needs to stay ready and aware and that meant food.]
no subject
And we haven't figured that out yet, we're working on it.
[She knows too well his temperament for being kept in the dark. She felt it when he figured out that she'd been helping the team when they were in Ivytown. It's only a matter of time before this blows up, and she's trying her best to keep it from doing that. Especially since keeping things from Oliver, even for everyone's own good, sits in her soul like a boulder.]
I hate keeping secrets, but I can answer what I can..
[Besides, he's been able to read her like a book since after the first year they met; and his detective skills are kind of amazing. She doubts she, or anyone else will be able to keep absolutely everything from him for long.]
no subject
Even if temporal mechanics are still quite a pill to swallow.]
So I'm guessing we is you and Sara? [Possibly Thea as well but his sister wasn't nearly as reluctant to provide him with details to the future as the other women in his life.]
I know.
Tell me what you can.
[the rest he will demand from Sara later. There's only so much latitude he can grant the people in his life after all.]
no subject
[She frowns, her brows furrowing and that crinkle showing between them again. She knows that some of this is going to be hard for him to swallow, especially Ray and Sara's trip to the Lazarus Pit.]
You might want to sit while I explain, and ask questions.
no subject
But I've had my fill of 'need to know' from ARGUS. [There's only so much faith he's willing to go on, especially considering how hard that faith has been shaken in the last few months.] I'm not going to accept being in the dark forever.
no subject
[She knows too well what secrets and lies do. How they can break the toughest of people, like Thea, like Oliver. She knows the cost of leaving people and being left in the dark and she won't do that to Oliver. He's too important to her, too much her heart.
While the comment could be a bit more exposure to the nature of their relationship in 2017, it could also refer to the team. Both are just as true. Besides, she knows all too well how he feels about her in his time. How she felt about him. How it felt to watch him try to bury his heart deep within him instead of letting the brightness of it show through.]
I guess we should start with Sara.
[She frowns heavily, the crease still pressing between her eyes. She knows how much this is going to hurt and how strange it's going to be, but as she told Sara, he has a right to know these things. Especially if they're going to cause him pain later.]
Has she told you anything about how she's alive and what she's been doing for the past three years?
no subject
Patience. It's a struggle, but he can grant her that. He owes her that much.] Only that she couldn't tell me anything without the risk of some catastrophic reaction.
no subject
She's not going to pretend that she's still angry with him, not going to pretend that she doesn't know he loves her. In his time he's already told her that, but the movements she's so used to, the extreme closeness that they shared, it's different now then it was back then. More intimate because they are more intimate.]
Yeah, I'm not, so sure about that. But, I mean, we'll get to that later.
[She's trying to compartmentalize, except she's never been good at it. She's a rambler, a blurter. She wears so, so much on her sleeve and after everything that's happened in their timeline she can't help but refuse to hide things from him.]
She comes back, I mean, she's brought back, but she's alive. It's not fake or anything. Not too long after she's offered a, well, a kind of incredible job saving time. She takes it and, um, becomes captain of the Waverider. I don't really know much after that about her. I mean, it's not like she keeps in major touch. But, you know, that's kind of Sara. Although I have heard she's a pretty awesome captain; and, also a hit with the ladies. Which, is, also kinda Sara.
[She can't help the small smile as she looks down. She could totally imagine Sara having a harem of women. She's that, amazing and wild and free. Felicity can't help feeling a little jealous of that, except she's also completely content being with Oliver.]
