Test Drive; December
Test Drive
Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.
First, a few housekeeping things before we start:
∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.
∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.
∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.
∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts
1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.
2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.
3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.
4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.
5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.
6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.
7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.
Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

Rip winches even though he knows most likely Sarah can't see him do it...at least he hopes she can't see him. He wouldn't put it past her to exploit any moment of weakness from him. "I was," he admits quietly, "not that cells at the Time Bureau are dark dank holes. But then I heard Gideon calling for me and how could I not answer that call." He sits up and looks around him slightly horrified at the amount of aberrations he sees. He then looks at himself and realizes for some reason he's back in his Time Master outfit, long coat and all. It feels like a comfortable costume that he didn't realize he was missing.
"It's like time is resetting itself somehow.....the city looks like the Bureau never cleaned it up."

She couldn't trust him. They couldn't.
"Have you tried calling up your boys in blue yet?"
Or was he avoiding that, and running while he could. Again.

Rip rolled his eyes as he finally stood up. "No not that they would come to my aid if I asked," he replied dryly, "they seem to think I'm a criminal now." He couldn't fault them for doing so or fault Sara for turning him in. He'd been so focused on the end goal of his mission he hadn't cared who he had hurt in the process and he had hurt people he could see that now. Miranda would be ashamed of and for him. Gods he missed her.
"I sadly have burned any bridge other than possibly Gideon that I could use to help us."

Except it only takes the beat of a second for that not to be good either, because a whole bureau devoted to time management, even if she wanted to deal with Agent Sharpe even less than Rip, could have been useful now. Though his answer is one of having not tried and assumed probably rightly his teams didn't want to work with him.
He was probably right, present and past. Still. "We should try them."
We. Sara's expression doesn't get better for that. She means everyone out here. She does.
"The Waverrider is on lockdown, and it'll probably mean find out what can be used around here."

"Perhaps if we combine what technology we did have access to we would be better able to contact the Time Bureau," Rip says carefully. He knows if he tried to contact them on his own most likely they would swoop in to grab him and attempt to clean up the mess, which could be a good thing or it could make things much worse. At least if Sara did the talking they might be more willing to listen and the Legends could help with the clean up, while Rip remained quietly in the background.
"I know it's a lot to ask of you to work with me again Captain Lance, but you may need to figure out what is going on here. I promise to follow your orders without question." It wasn't exactly an apology but it was a start.

[ Yeah, she knows she's on a phone and physically required to be engaged in the act of listening to hear him, but the point stands. Hard. Almost sharply angry at the ground it razes just by his daring to go there. She can't convince her voice to stay entirely flat and professional, but then she's not sure she can keep any of this that way.
Not after what he did. Not his team. And not to hers.
Not after asking her to trust him, and saying he wouldn't apologize.
Sara's gaze turned high, narrowing, face pinched, even as she blinked the buildings in front of her vision back into existence.
Getting an idea, that wasn't so much a distraction as it was as cold and obvious a shut down as her words. ]
We should pick a small group of the people who've already checked in to start sweeping the buildings for suitable shelter, and food, and technology for now. Start getting everyone working together whether this is short term, or not. Get some of the others, who can handle themselves, to sweep the distortions of threats.

Rip hears the emotion and does his level best to keep his own tone calm even though it hurts, deeply hurts to hear Sara speak to him like that. The Legends did all they could to save him when he was trapped in the past, did everything they could to save him when he turned against them and shot Sara and with one disastrous mission he'd ruined all that trust and friendship. "I would suggest possibly having one of the Legends lead each of these teams. You have the most experience dealing with a broken time stream and will know how to guide those who don't through the mire of whatever is going on."
Be careful, be calm and know when to step back and let someone else lead. It is what the Time Masters tried to train into him and he is finally learning the lesson a little too late.

Ray should stay with the ship and Gideon.
[ He was the best they had for looking at it, outside of Gideon, who wasn't helping, and Rip, who'd had Gideon and the Waverider longer, but whom Sara wasn't going to leave alone with the ship or Gideon or anyone if she could help it for quite a while. ] Martin is still looking for Jefferson, in case their introduction knocked him cold.
There're a couple people from Barry's group here, too, and I'm sure they'd be willing to pull in.

Rip nodded even though Sara couldn't see him. "Wise decision. I'll walk a grid and send anyone who I come across toward the Waverider," he says, "if anyone has experience dealing with the mess they can either join me or head toward you and the others to start walking another part of the grid." Keep away from the Legends for now, he decided, let them get used to his being here than they can cross the next bridge when he's done. "I'll check in at regular intervals."
