Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

  ∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

  ∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

  ∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

  ∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts

   1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.


   2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.


   3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.


   4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.


   5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.


   6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

   7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

"Alright." He wasn't about to argue with her so he grabs the jacket from the chair and pulls his hood up.

She feels bad. It feels like she's throwing a cat out in the snow or something. Not that she's overly fond of cats - although she had thought of getting one once, in passing.

"Hey, do you have somewhere to go?"

"This old guy said that I can stay with him, and that computer woman said I need a guardian." So much scoffing.

"So apparently I'm either gonna get assigned one or I gotta pick one."

"Gideon. That's the computer lady's name. And old guy sounds a bit ominous. Did he at least give you a name?"

She's not sure she likes the idea of leaving this kid out in the wilds of this place. It's a whole lot less safe then any normal city and apparently old guys are trying to pick him up.

"Said his name was Martin." To be absolutely fair, this kid is one of the wilds of this place. He hops on over towards the door towards the exit out of the lair, his tail swaying behind him. "He's alright." Okay, Gideon then. "This is the way out?" There's a door over here, in the sub level. Or are they going through the club up stairs?

She nods, heading for it. She really needs to get out of there before the memories overwhelm her.

"So you mean Martin Stein?" That's actually good. Martin is one of the best people she knows.

"Does he have white hair and talked like he did voiced over nature documentaries?" The youngster asked as he pushes open the door and moves outside. Once out side he looks like he's focusing, sniffing at the air. Once she's out he grabs her hand and starts moving swiftly down the street. There are some nasty looking red coats marching down the street, and they narrowly make it to cover before they catch up to them.

"You could ..." She doesn't get the rest of it out before he's grabbing and pulling her along. The tug pulls her off balance and she has to stumble to keep up with him.

Sorry, but surviving a landscape like this might lose a heel or two on those nice shoes. The solders march by as they hide behind a dumpster in the alley. "How'd you even get here on your ow--Oh. Right. That's your base, right?" Turning to look at her, he tilts his head. "I dunno, green doesn't look like your color."

She's done a lot of running in heels. Like, you have no idea how much running in heels she's had to do over the past six years. She'll be fine, and so will her shoes. SHe watches as they march by, making a detailed assessment in case they come back.

"It's not, I mean, I'm not. But I look fine in green." She doesn't really want to go around revealing secrets to people she's just met. Even if it might not technically matter.

He seems to think about it, then chuffs a little, shaking his head. "If you say so." Anyway, he's gotta figure out how to get her somewhere safe. "Where are we going now?" There's no way in hell he's just gonna leave her alone now, even though he totally could. She wasn't treating him poorly which allowed him to accept her as worthy of his help.

She thinks about that. There are a lot of places she could go right now, but certain things were more important than others.]

I need to get to a good computer. So, a computer store I guess.

But, wait. They just left a good computer. Wasn't that her computer? Why does she need a new one? Fine, he'll accept that, but actually finding a computer store is another story. "The one I saw back there didn't look that bad." But what does he know? It looked nice to him. "But onward to civilization, yeah?

She nods, carefully getting up from where he'd hid them before answering his comment.

"It was. I mean it was more than state of the art for about four years ago, but it's kinda obsolete now. If it's the only choice it'll do in a pinch, but I need something more upgraded."

"Does the internet even work?" That would seem unlikely to him, but hey, stranger things have happened in every possible way. Wifi would be a small miracle though, he thinks. "I heard that the moment you buy a computer it's obsolete so I never bothered getting one except the one my dad got for me. It's a glorified paper weight." He rarely uses it. Give him his 3DS and he's happy.

"I don't need the internet. I just need to be able to program." And tap into any of the cameras and other monitoring devices around. Take a head count and keep a list of who's here. Then figure out a way to track the comings and goings of people and potentially find out if being here has any effect on the timestream.

Basically, your normal computer doing things.

Programming makes more sense but the whole computer thing doesn't. As long as he's at a computer store maybe he can pick up a new Nintendo game. He tips his head to her and leads the way to a more modern era, and here there are plenty of shops, seems like a shopping center. "Oh, this might work..." Hopefully in the right era. Seems right.

Her eyes flick over the devices and components as she assesses the date and usefulness of each thing. Some are, in her opinion, pieces of junk, but there are a few that will do for now. Once things are settled down and figured out she'll work on looking for something better. She needs to redo the computers and security in the lair anyway. Especially if they're going to be using it as a base of operations. "Thanks, this actually works well. Ah, I never got your name."

Shad is busy looking at some videogames, and he might have used his powers to get himself a few. He looks up when she addresses him. "Yeah? Good." He says, chuffing lightly. "It's Shadow."

If he didn't expect a brow raise at that name then he was one sorely mistaken meta lion-kid. He's totally getting a brow raise at that. "Felicity." She offers out her hand.

Well okay, Felicity. Why are you giving him that look? He shakes her hand with his paw, or rather, his hand that's almost a paw. Halfway between man and beast. "What's with that look?" Maybe she saw him swipe the game? Nah she'd have said something by now. Heh.

She didn't, but if she finds out about it she will be morally obligated to ... do nothing. She's blown up a building before after all. How could she yell at someone for grabbing a video game? "Just, not what I was expecting. Your name, I mean." She figured it would be something ... not color related. Like a housecat.

"You mean a regular normal name?" His ears turn back a little and he snorts a mirthless laugh. "I'm not really that person anymore." Mathieu was a far cry from who he was now, and then, Matty is only half of who he is now.

She gets that, in a weird way she actually does.

"So then you re-named yourself?"

"Yeah." The boy nods. He considers telling her though, the name he's long since left behind. "Most people call me Shad." He rather liked the shortened nickname. It was efficient and had a easy ring to it. Given his personality it worked for him. "Do you really want to know my name?"
