Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

  ∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

  ∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

  ∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

  ∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts

   1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.


   2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.


   3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.


   4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.


   5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.


   6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

   7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

"Pizza. You're thinking of pizza at a time like this." There's still a smile on her lips and a fondness to her voice. She quickly grasps his hand again. "I think I heard Sara's voice over the phone."

"You never know. Last time Superboy and I did the whole race for charity, his dog beat both of us."

A pause, and he shrugged. "We can't all be Superman. I do this because I can't live with myself if I don't do what I can. Because weekends with my friends in Titans Tower is more like home than anywhere else. Not to mention when you're different, people will judge. Putting on a uniform, being seen, standing for something can let you control the narrative instead of being controlled by it."

"Jay Garrick?" He has to ask, because that's the one member of the Society he would want to see. "I know he and his wife are in their nineties in my world, but he always aged well."

Bart didn't know how to take this, and starts moving in the direction of the museum in an attempt to buy time.

"Technically, I won't be born for like a thousand years, and I've lost track of how old I am as it relates to solar years," Bart said, grinning. "And Barry Allen, the first Flash, was my grandfather."

"Who's Cisco? Getting the feeling we're not from the same world. But then, you're not blond, either."

Don't worry Caitlin, it's not universal. Dark fur and a general weakness to light, the sunlight kinda makes you sleepy. "Not yet, but i guess I could help you look."

I'll be here.

[ Sara takes a steady breath in her nose. It's not everyone, but she's not alone. While she could be and still be just fine, there's something to that incredibly simple truth that means things Sara couldn't rightly put into words. Things that get only the space of one breath in, before she turns, and she's back to looking at the Waverider debris, keeping her phone in her hand, hoping more will be checking in shortly. ]

Nodding his attention is on the fight for now, ears turned in that direction. At Martin's words regarding the ship however, he knits his brows. Didn't he see something earlier? Yeah. "I think I saw a ship before. I could probably take you there."

He really won't.

"We've been here before--" Sara picks her drink back up again, gesturing with it, and adding the clarifications. "The Legends." The Legends who broke time and made this version of Los Angeles happen. "It was cleaned up before. We still haven't figure out how ti got undone, but it seems to be picking up more places and people through time as these days go on."

It's worrying. That might show for a second before she takes a swig.

[ Somewhere there's a sigh. But it's hard to tell if it makes enough sound to exist no less make it anywhere near audible to someone a foot away, no less across wires and screens. There's a me, too in there somewhere, but what she says is still all the to business. ] We'll figure it out.

Clark laughs. "You should see how much Kara and I have to put away after a day of heroing," he replied, "half the time I have to remember to save food for Lois or I'll eat everything before she gets home. I think I saw a Chinese place up the street when flying in. I could decimate some pot stickers.

Not getting skewered is nice. The youth is aware someone's carrying him but his head is still spinning. Once they get behind the car he reaches for his head, thankful that he was sturdy enough to take a hit like that and not have a cracked open skull. Rubbing his head, the kid rumbles softly before cracking his eyes open and glancing at Mick. Who's this guy?

"You got off lucky, then. We've got reports of all sorts of creatures." Sara gestures for her to fall into step as Sara is still making her way around the ship, trying to assess damage she hardly even has the skills to. To Captain, not to make or repair time ships. "There were dinosaurs last time we were here."

Sara tilted her head, eyes narrowing at that shift there. That very familiar looking shift. "Sciency."

She gestured with her glass. "Is that?"

"I...might be best if I worked alone." She hesitates before she adds, "I'm Caitlin. Caitlin Snow."

Caitlin puts her shoes back on and falls into step with Sara, looking at the Waverider and trying to figure out what happened to it to have it look like that. At the mention of dinosaurs, she turns her attention back on Sara.

"Did you say dinosaurs?"

"Wouldn't hurt, I'spose. Course I'd have more fun if we fought eachother." He pauses, maybe that's not the best way to put it? "For fun, tho." He adds to the end, then listens to what Bart has to say, briefly glancing around as he says it. "Hey, you wanna get outta here?" He says, while he mulls over what he says. It's a cool place and all but he'd rather go out and stretch his legs now. "I see what you're saying but I never got that kinda thing back home. I got tossed around to teams a few times but never a 'home'."

Aaaand everything skids to a halt as Barry stutters over the word. "G-grandfather? I'm you.. your grandfather?"

Sorry Bart, this is gonna take him a second or two to process.

"Cisco. Um. He's.. he's my best friend back home. He's a hero too. Vibe."

Grandfather.
He's a grandfather.

Kara whirls in a direction, and she could have dodged, faster than anyone could see, but spotting Barry's face catches her first, causing her smile to explode even brighter, like a light turning on in every part of her face -- and then the snowballs smacks into her shoulder exploding everywhere, up and down, as she gives a small shriek.

"Barry!" There's a wealth of both joy and unexpected surprise, and if it tried to sound aggrieved for the snowball, it's only the faintest whiff mocking at the idea of it. Especially as Kara is leaning down to grab a handful of snow to throw back at him, too.

Work alone? You'd have to be crazy if you were a normie to say that, but... "I'm Shadow. I take it you're either highly badass or you've got some kinda power." Which means if she wants to go that's fine by him. "Just don't get into trouble you can't get yourself out of." He's gonna give you the benefit of the doubt that you're not a damsel and can take care of things on your own.

"Sparring's not a bad idea. I heal fast, so there's less to worry about if I get scratched. But if you want to go somewhere else, I can do go for a walk, or a run."

A pause. "Can you carry someone else while you're doing the traveling thing?"

He left the home thing, because it sucked to be alone. He remembered being passed around like an inconvenience, but he didn't think saying so would help.

Huh. Not exactly a cat but not exactly a kid either.
Damn this place is weird.

"Stay down if you don't wanna get run over."

Hard to say without any data. The damage could have been so severe that time is drawing us back in to the event which had the most anachronisms in one place and time.

[Other voices check in. Familiar and some Mick's never heard before.

By the time he's rounding the side of the Waverider he's got his heat gun drawn, a scowl on his face and ash and dust scattered across his jacket. Clearly he's had a few run-ins with unfriendly locals in his drive to get back to the ship and to Sara.]

So what the hell's going on? Why aren't we able to get in?

Remember that club Thea Queen owned? I think I'm there right now. And so are some Roman Centurions, at least what I could see for now.

I don't think I've been noticed yet.

They could dodge at superspeed, race around the London streets and throw snowballs faster than anyone around them could register.
But where was the fun in that?

His grin is equally sunny as he ducks to catch the snowball on his shoulder rather than flat in the chest, scooping to pick up a little more snow. "I didn't know you were here too."
