Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

  ∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

  ∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

  ∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

  ∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts

   1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.


   2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.


   3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.


   4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.


   5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.


   6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

   7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

   8. Wild Card. Go nuts.

"Nope." He understand where she is now and figures he might just have to be careful not to trip. He feels like one of those circus chimpanzees. "I think I might live at Titans Tower."

7. Amy was getting used to weird. Weird had become her default state of life since meeting the Doctor as a child, and only more so since she married...

"...Rory?!" She rushed over to Rip, clearly mistaking him for someone else. Her jaw worked when she saw the beard and she just shook her head. She could make him shave it later. That wasn't the important part. "How long...?" she whispered, and then if he didn't stop her, she would try to kiss him....

She thinks about that. She's curious, but it's not something that's a burning question. If he wants to be Shadow, then he's Shadow. "If you want me to know. I just ... thought your mane sounded kinda like a housecat."

"It's not like it's embarrassing. It's just not me anymore." Maybe he'll tell her later. Apparently it was christmas soon if that little village he visited was any indication. "It's Matty." He says finally, but pulls a face. "Just don't call me that."

Rip was startled, too startled to say anything when the woman tried to kiss him. He may have kissed back for a moment before pulling away confused. "I'm sorry...do we know each other," he asks quietly, "time travel tends to mess with my memory."

She was so happy to kiss him, to be with him in this odd place that she chalked up the oddness of the kiss to the beard, until he spoke. She scowled at him. "Okay, that's not funny, Rory. Lots of things you can mess with me over, driving, my skirt, snogging the Doctor. But you are not allowed to even pretend to forget me. We don't play with that, Rory. Not us. Got it?"

Oh boy this was going to get awkward quickly, Rip thought to himself as he pulled completely away from her. "Miss...uh....whoever you are. I'm afraid I am not this Rory person. He must be my doppleganger. My name is Rip Hunter."

Not.... Rory? This wasn't Rory? A moment of heartbreak and then.... He kissed her back! She would slap him across the face as she stepped back, before crossing her arms. "Rip... Hunter." Note to self. Rory is never allowed to grow a beard and mustache.

She shook her head. "I'm Amy. Amy Pond." she used the hand that had her wedding ring on it to push back her hair. As a message. "Fine then, Mr. Not Rory. Where am I, and how did I get here? Is this what the boxes were for then? I should warn you, Rory will be here soon, and he won't appreciate that you kissed his wife." Okay, so maybe that might be a small bit amusing. Or more than a small bit. River was going to never let her hear the end of this....

[Felicity, he knows you better than most people know you. You are a genuinely cuddly person and he really can't think about that or he'll have regrettable thoughts.

He has an amusing expression on his face as that occurs to him.]

[She shakes her head. It's a lot to take in.]

Safe to say that you're a speedster as well, then?

She nods and reaches slowly toward one of his ears for a gentle scratch, cautiously watching him as they walk along, just in case she needed to pull her hand away from an unwelcomed touch.

"I'm afraid I don't know too much about lions but, I can offer ear scratches?"

Oh, right, no Justice League, so probably not that easy. Easiest way to explain was originally Earth-1 had Grandpa Barry and the Justice League. Earth-2 had Uncle Jay and the Justice Society, and then the Justice Lords were the dominant power on Earth-3, controlling just about everything.

[A pause, then he shrugs.]

Guess there's no real reason to hide it. I was born a speedster.

[Ray shifted a bit, leaning forward slightly to peer at Barry. Maybe he hit his head. ]

Rip winched at the slap, but he was used to that sort of thing really. "A pleasure to meet you Mrs. Pond-Williams," he says politely "I am sorry for kissing you without your permission. I was startled and simply reacted." He sticks his hands in his pockets and looks around for a moment. "It looks like 1890's London, but I am just guessing since I don't have a scanner with me to check."

Leo nods meeting her the rest of the way keeping plenty of space between them. He might be trying to get them to open about recent events but that doesn't mean he plans on doing so. He's seen people with less reason to be put in the camps be reported and until he's sure no one from his earth is here he isn't going to be on his guard. "You want to me to be one of the scouts," he asks wanting confirmation before he heads off.

Ray had been doing a fair bit of wandering himself, mostly outside. He still did not like to be inside all that much. Given, where he came from, he did understand the need, but that doesn't mean that his Closterphobia doesn't get the best of him at times.

He had been thinking of Leo a lot since he arrived and when Ray heard Leo, he thought he was just hearing what he wanted to hear.

"Oh my God, please be real," He called back.

Leo's default settings were therapist and snark, so when Ray calls out he can't help giving into a moment of the second one. "No," he says dryly, "I've died and now I'm just haunting you because you have a great ass." He's reached Ray at this point and reaches for his boyfriend not even caring if they are out in public where anyone could see them. He needs to make sure Ray is okay, because if there is one thing Leonard Snart fears most is losing those he loves.

....Williams? When had she said Williams? She tracked back over the conversation, but she'd never used any last name but Pond. HEr eyes narrowed.

"Alright, let's say I buy that," and she knew something was going on. Maybe this was a version of Rory after all? He knew the name Williams. And Amy almost never used that last name. For either of them. Only for legal paperwork. Rory was a Pond. That was how things worked. "Then what exactly is going on? Where is the Doctor?"

"What's to know? King of the jungle." Well, there were plenty of things to know, like how cats were obligate carnivores, and the only social cat. Shadow though, was not particularly regal looking. Still he turns his head to allow her to pet him.

[ Well. That's not good. But. At least it will probably make Leo happy, and it will probably mean that he will stop putting his nose as far into how Sara chooses to run the Legends as she's letting him get so far. Small favors, even in giant clusterfucks. ]
