Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

  ∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

  ∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

  ∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

  ∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts

   1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.


   2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.


   3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.


   4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.


   5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.


   6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

   7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

"Yeah. That's the technical term. Sciency." He smirked at her.

"Is what?" Okay, he's a little drunk. You'll need to be more specific.

"Always. I mean... pizza." he grins at her.

"Sara?" He squints at her. "Who's that?"

Long story, probably not relevant in this world. At least, not yet.

I forgot Ray said there's only been metas for five years. I think I've been running around for that long, and, yeah, third generation speedster here.

I'm still getting my head wrapped around who is and isn't here.

If he hadn't already experienced this kind of split personality with Peacebringers and Warshades running around Paragon City all the time. That line alone earns an easy shrug. "Well, okay, like, I took a nap when I first got here so... six hours maybe?" Yes, this is a kid who looks at a world like this and just goes back to sleep.

Bart is wise to use caution, as not only is he a lion, but he's already mentioned that he's had trouble controlling his powers before. In any case he lands on all fours and feints a charge at him, seeing what he'd do with that. C'mon, let him get you already.

Special, you say? Snorting softly at the entire situation of him stumbling onto this place, which apparently was a shrine of some kind. "Yeah. Sorta. It's Shadow." He replies, as if that were his actual name. He almost wants to ask about who exactly is the hero of this sacred base but he holds that question for later.

Less what now? You mean the voice? The one he ignored in favor of sleeping off this fever dream? "I haven't seen anyone I know or anyone I recognize." More people he'd want not to be here than actually be here. "Which is probably a good thing."

And at the charge, Bart leaps in a pounce of his own, turning a chase into a wrestling match, not caring that there's no way he'll end up on top. It wasn't about winning, after all.

Ray catches that shift in body language when they see the Rogues, pretty sure that meant something. These guys weren't exactly the best representatives of humanity after all.

"Hm. White Canary, Firestorm formally, Zari, but she hasn't picked a name out for herself, Vixen, Heatwave, and Steel." Ray replies, knowingly leaving out all of the old members aside from Firestorm because he figured that name might have meaning to Bart.

"Oh? Well, this place seems to have a lot of people in it. Perhaps you will find yourself a new home." He nodded.

Bart spins, backing away a step. "You're working with Heatwave?"

And here he was beginning to like you, Ray.

Hey, I'm counting on it.

We'll compare notes soon. And really I should fly around and see if I can't construct a map. See what landmarks are here that we know.

Also, spoilers. There's a flash museum in the 31st century.

Right. A rogue.

"I almost forgot he was a villain once." He said, then pauses. Well, okay, he's still a criminal and a rube, but he trusts hi- wait, no he doesn't.

"Mick might be rough around the edges, and honestly, I can't trust him as far as I can throw him because he is who he is. He has betrayed us, but he came through in the end, and that's what matters." He really can't look past the fact that he can't trust Mick at the end of the day, not completely. Ray just accepts this fact and accepts Mick for who he is. It's all he can do. With Bart, all he can do is tell him the truth.

That was something, wasn't it?

It's entirely possible. Maybe someone's sleeping on the job at the time Bureau.

Or it could be a direct result of what happened. Who knows, maybe the normal timeline is going on uninterrupted?

When Martin says that, Shad turns his eyes, then his head away. Guilt. True, he doesn't care much for his situation back home. His dad is back but barely in his life even if he pays all the bills for the kid. His mom is back but she's clinically insane. Really, he'd just feel bad about not being able to visit his mother. "I guesso." He winces at the thought about all that transpired about his mom and then rumbles. "Lets go then."

"Once?" Bart asks, incredulous.

Okay, so maybe he's a little judgemental where certain Rogues are concerned, but damn, that one...

"He's one of the people responsible for some of my worst nightmares. I remember dying because of him and his friends."

Martin nods and starts off with him, thinking. What an odd place for a kid to be. He will have to talk to Gideon about finding the kid a home he can stay in and be safe.

"Have you talked to any others since arriving here?"

The two are on the ground now, rolling as Shad pushes his paws against Bart's shoulder to flip him. Once on top he mouths and paws at Bart's hands. Don't worry, no claws, no biting, just goofy lion antics. The noises he's making have got to be the lion version of a laugh.

Bart is laughing, too, well aware that if Shadow wanted him hurt, there had been plenty of opportunity. He's a little surprised that he hasn't gotten a few minor punctures from kneading paws and the like. Because it's friendly, he doesn't try to put an arm across the throat or try to push him away very hard. letting the kid win.

"I think you got me."

Eh, he can take care of himself, gramps. Don't worry so much, he's the one who saved you after all! Shad walks on towards where he last saw the ship. "A couple. There was a guy in the great hall of heroes, and this other kid, Bart."

Worrying is something Martin does, a lot. Blame the other Legends.

"Hmmm. There's a hall of heroes? Interesting. I'll have to check it out, later. And I don't know a Bart, but hopefully, everyone will find something to do here and some place to... be."

Ray winces, because he'd almost forgotten how bad Mick Rory really was. Sure, he brought up his past now and again, and sure, it was dark. But it was only once that Mick Rory betrayed them in a way that was 100% under his own volition.

"I don't... really know what to tell you. When the Legends were formed, it was the mission that mattered. And they had skills we needed." Maybe 'they' wasn't a great choice of words.

Still, he's trying hard not to burn this bridge before he's even finished building it. If nothing else, Ray himself is genuine.

Bart could easily beat him, which meant that's basically it. Him saying uncle. He nips at his sleeve before rolling off and flopping on his side. That was fun, but now he's ready for that tour, at least after being lazy for a few minutes or so. "Yep. But if I could catch your shadow, I could stop you in your tracks, speedster."

"It's all broken down, old. Like it's been there for a couple decades or more." The boy reports, then walking around a bit of rubble, the start of the ship's crash site. "Do you think we'll be here for that long?" He asks, squinting at the older man.

"So many things, time-shifted from so many eras. It's hard to really be sure when things come from." He shook his head. "It's fantastic!"

Martin shrugged. "Not if my Captain has anything to do with it, but even she is not unstoppable. We could be here awhile."
