Test Drive

Welcome to the test drive for Time Trapped. This is an open forum to test out your characters to see how they would fit into the game and if you might be interested in apping them here. We want you to feel comfortable and, of course, test drive threads can be used as samples on your application to join.

First, a few housekeeping things before we start:

  ∞Apps will be open as of Dec 10th at 12 AM, and will reopen on the first of every month. They will remain open until the 10th of each month before closing.

  ∞Both first and third person prompts are allowed in the test drive. We encourage both. We also encourage making multiple prompt options in your post.

  ∞Finally, you will be allowed to transfer your test drive threads over into the game canon should you apply and be accepted.

  ∞If you have any other questions please feel free to refer to the FAQ or contact the mods directly.

Prompts

   1. Acclimating to the environment
While Gideon has a part of the area sectioned off for now based on her calculations of where the time anomalies are going to occur the area is still large and confusing. It’s easy for a person to get lost or overwhelmed in this big mish-mosh of a world. Perhaps you are lost, or maybe you are just settling in.


   2. Reach out and touch someone
Gideon has been kind enough to provide you with a way to communicate. Whether that be a device or a simple SIM card. Why not try it out by sending a public message. Of course, you could also be sending it by accident.


   3. Make peace, not war
While LA has become a hodgepodge of different times it has also become a hodgepodge of different areas as well. Exploring the downtown LA brings you to a section of Greenwich Village in New York. Unfortunately what was once a peaceful protest has grown into a fight between Mogul hordes and peace loving hippies who just want to protest. Local enforcement is, of course, trying to sort out this mess but it seems they might need a bit of outside help.


   4. What's this strange building?
The 'Hall of Justice' stands in a sorry state as nature is trying to overtake it. Vines are crawling up the walls and there is Dimetrodon sunbathing in the courtyard, or what's left of it. Inside, any technology seems to have been destroyed and there is no sign of life. Still, it is a ruin left to be explored and the local archaeological society is willing to pay good money for relics from inside. Be warned that there may still be some rather nasty traps active inside and around the hall. If you happen to be a from the DC world you might see a few familiar faces among the broken statues that once adorned this building.


   5. Let’s dance
The Verdant. A rousing nightclub in 'bad neighborhood' of what was once Starling City circa 2013. There seems to be a wide variety of patrons here tonight, anything from Greek Scholars to some Greasers. What a great place to grab something to drink or maybe cause a little trouble.


   6. Dressing in style
Perhaps you arrived in less than ideal clothing. You may have arrived in no clothing at all. It might just be about time to look through some clothing stores and find what is right for you. Of course, it’s never that easy though. There are pickpockets and thieves all over the streets. You may just become their next victim.

   7. Home for the Holidays
Little old London town is high in festivities right now. It's Christmas and the area surrounding Big Ben is snowy, though it's a bit melty due to the climate in LA. Festive decor and foods for sale circa 1885 in england and emotions are cheery and positive. Take a horse and buggy or attend a christmas party.

Just hope the mongols don't show up. Or Amazons.

Clark nods. "My cousin," he says, "you must be the speedster friend she talks about. The Flash right?" He holds out his hand in a clear gesture of friendship. "You haven't seen Kara anywhere have you?" He knows she can take care of herself, but they are family and he's worried about her.

Harry spun hand moving to his back pack and rooting around inside it. He doesn't have his bigger gun given he'd been fixing it at STAR Labs when he'd heard the voice, but he had managed to pack the handheld version and he pulled it out keeping it down by his side. "Is anyone there," he called out quietly. "I'm armed and believe me I will use it if you don't answer me."

"You use it, you'll lose it, gramps." Shad says as he climbs out onto the shoulder of the Flash statue. He looks down at the man and looks at that gun.

"Why don't you put that little toy away? If I wanted to mess with you, I'da done it already." He speaks with a slight accent, from someone raised among foreigners and hasn't exactly acclimated to the american inflection yet.

He smelled the blood before he saw her, and turning the corner, she's there. He stands over her and looks down at her, tilting his head at her words. Right, the disembodied voice. The lion boy chuffs before offering his hand to her.

"Need some help?"

"Barry," he offers, taking his hand. Because hey, what's secret identities when you're apparently trapped in a world where time has gone sideways? "I haven't seen her yet, but then again I did just see a cowboy riding a dinosaur so I'm not really sure what's going on here."

Another scan of the crowd. "They're getting ugly down there. I think I can take down the cavalry if you can get the hippies a block or two out of the line of fire?"

".. Gideon that's not exactly helpful.."

Of course she's going to apologize and remind Barry that there's nothing she can do at the moment. Leaving one harried looking speedster dragging a hand through his hair, turning it into even more of a mess than it usually is post-cowl.

"Okay, this is Barry Allen. If you're familiar with Central City, Star City or anywhere and anywhen in between, let me know. Time's gone all sideways and we need to figure out just how bad this is."

Call him a sucker. He loves Christmas.
Holidays at Joe's house, bright lights and a warm fire, decorations and music everywhere. And let's not forget the hot cocoa, complete with extra marshmallows. This might be a little more nostalgia than Barry is used to but for now he's content to wander the snowy streets, trade smiles with the locals and maybe even hum a few carols or two along the way.

He's got a bright red scarf around his neck, a cup in his hand and a song on his lips as he very nearly plows into you. "I'm sorry! Crap, I wasn't even looking. Are you okay?"

Thea? Thea is that you?

[Hey, familiar voice is always a good thing, right? Right. He's just going to go with it.]

She turns at her name, quizzical blase curiosity of being called only. Only until she spots the person in question, and her distance turns into a smile. "Barry."

Sara stood up from her stool, easily, taking a few steps in his direction, drink in hand.
"I thought someone mentioned you were around here somewhere."

He's coming in for a hug. (Oliver should have warned her about this - Barry is a hugger)

"Someone? Are there other people we know here? I mean apart from Gideon?" And even Gideon hadn't been a hundred percent forthcoming when it came to answers.

"Good question?" came the female voice using a nearby window to get glass shards out of her hair. "Last thing I remember was crashing through a table and now no sign of my brother and friends."

Rip stood in the Hall of Justice with his head bowed. He knew each of these names, each of these faces and he mourned them all. He'd let down both his Legends and the ones he'd looked up to all of his life and he knew it. When his team had needed them he'd let them down without question. He would spend the rest of his life trying to make up for that fact no matter how he needed to do it. He turned to go and froze not realizing someone was behind him.

Rip moved among the merriment quietly hands jammed in his pockets. He smiled at the scene straight out of Dickens and couldn't resist buying some hot chestnuts from a vendor. He couldn't remember having a real Christmas growing up so it was nice to have a facsimile of one. He hummed along with the carolers for a moment as he stopped to watch them.

Clark shook the offered hand. "Call me Clark," he replies warmly, "any friend of Kara's is a friend of mine." He glances over the crowd and nods. "I can speed them out and then come help you with the cavalry," he adds dashing into the crowd in a blur of blue and red. He doesn't really use the speed part of his powers much so it's a bit fun to zoom around pulling people out of the crowd and dashing them down the block. He's done in about ten minutes and returns as promised to start going through the things he can hit.

Harry aimed a shot at the statue of the only woman in the room and calmly shot her square in the chest. "I don't make idle threats," he replied easily, "but I'm also not trigger happy when I don't need to be. Also I don't make toys." He does put the gun back in the backpack through because he doesn't really randomly shoot strangers, At least not ones who haven't pissed him off yet."

Bart can't help a slight quirking of lips as he takes in his surroundings. Ok, yeah, a broken universe is never a good thing, but hey, he hadn't expected much of anything after he surrendered to the Speed Force and sent it to his grandfather. Being alive at all is kinda a nice thing, and he could enjoy the juxtaposition of strange things.

Dressed in civilian attire of a t-shirt and jeans, he's taking his time walking the sights, not caring exactly where or when he is, although he has some inklings. The world doesn't seem quite like he remembers things, but then, he's already grown up displaced a thousand years into what should have been his past. It made him try to go easy, have some of that zen Max always tried to teach him.

It made him stop dead, not really thinking about where he was, overtaken by memories he couldn't outrun. The fastest kid in the world, and he still couldn't run away from the past.

"Wow, talk about deja vu," Bart mutters as he steps into the building. It's different, yet the same as any version of the League or Society headquarters in any century. He wonders if he'd know any of the names, and if they'd be the versions he thought he'd remembered.

There's only so much one can do, but he has to look. There are names he'd want to know about, most of them from the Flash extended family. Johnny Quick, Max Mercury, Barry Allen, but others he knew as Titans, or even had never met. It was something different, and part of him wished he knew how or why.

"No harm done." Is the quick reply with a grin. It may not have been such an accident. This is a teenager that is used to looking after himself and sometimes that includes using some of his 'skills' to his advantage to get the funds to keep going.

What he doesn't know that in one of the many timelines this is who he's named after and his grandfather.

The crackle that sounds is most likely annoying and it isn't something Felicity meant to cause. If asked, she'll blame the Gideon. That seems like a good master plan at the moment. Either way, master plans aren't exactly the point right now, it's the fact that Barry seems to be in this weird mixed up reality too. That's important. Friends are important.

"You're telling me. I think I saw cavemen. Also, aren't you supposed to be doing the whole preparing to get married thing?"

That's it, no name, no hi. Just right to the multiple points.

The amount of joy that is conveyed through the voice on the other end is only matched by the amount of relief. Hearing Thea sounding exactly like herself is wonderful. The last she'd seen her she was just waking from a coma, but she sounds totally up and about now.

"Thea, where are you?" As if this place were straight shoots and easy to maneuver. Someone ought to make a map or something around here. OOH! Maybe GPS still works here.

"Try GPS and Felicity!" Thea's just as relieved to hear her friend's voice. "I'm outside what looks like a Starbucks but it could be a Jitters, this place is a mess! And follow the glass shards, I'm picking them out as we speak."

This was not how Felicity expected this day to go. Friendly faces, sure, seeing parts of Paris merges with parts of LA, not so much. In a weird, twisted and worrying way it's actually kind of fascinating. How things cut off and blend into each other. At the least, it's not something you see every day, and she's seen aliens ... like, weird gross looking aliens.

She's distracted and not really looking where she's going. More staring up then down at the world in front of her, and she doesn't see Cisco coming around the corner as she keeps walking.

Damn, what does he have against women? Turning his eyes away from the blasted bust to the man, he tapped his fingers against the shoulder of the statue he was on.

"Do you know what this place is?" He gestures around. "And what's happening, for that matter? The world's gone topsyturvy all of a sudden."

His feline visage comes into view as he steps closer to her from behind. His green eyes of a predatory animal might make him look a tad more threatening than he's trying to be. Still, he is trying to be diplomatic. "So you were teleported here instantaneously? You hurt?"

Maybe it's the year or two living in polite society that tempers his urge to knock the guy flat on his ass. Where he was brought up, it would be seen as weak to take it without at least verbally retaliating. He has his hood up and a jacket on which he'd lifted from a store in another time period, he just glances back at Barry and huffs at him.

"S'fine." He says, despite his body language saying otherwise, especially that pesky tail of his, flicking this way and that. Yeah, that sure is a very meta looking meta right in front of you.

Good instincts considering there was a predator in the room. Sure, he doesn't care about Rip, or he isn't stalking him or whatever, but he is moving around fairly quietly. He's not perched on one of the statue's platforms, seemingly treating the place like it's a big playground.
